Directv DVR controls not working after update

I'm having issues controlling my DVR with the Xbox One since the update over the weekend. The issue is with Fast Forward, Rewind, Pause, etc. I have the buttons on my Harmony Remote mapped to the Xbox Ones FF, Rewind, etc., and the Kinect blasts the commands
to the Directv receiver. It worked perfectly fine prior to the update with very few commands not reaching the DVR. After the update, almost none of the commands reach the DVR (maybe 10% success rate). I haven't moved any furniture or lights in the room
that would effect the performance of the Kinect IR blaster. I have yet to successfully get the DVR fast forward to go beyond 1x speed (max is 4x).

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Directv DVR controls stop working again after March update

After the February update, the DVR controls from a Harmony remote stopped forwarding the IR commands to my DirecTv STB.

After the March update, everything starting working again.

Today, I have seemed to loose this functionality again! Now I am back to the problems I had during the February update! I am not aware of an update today, so did Microsoft sneak one in on update Tuesday?

Anyone else seeing this?

 

xbox One, and accessing DirecTV recorded content

Hey guys,

Getting DirecTV tomorrow, and plan on running it through my xbox One. I understand there isn't functionality for the xbox to access the DVR functionality, but I assume I can still access my recorded content with the Directv remote control?

I just tried using the play, FF, Rew, etc, using my Xbox One controller and they work fine. The problem has to do with being input from the Harmony remote, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense because the Xbox One gets the signal from the Harmony remote,
but then doesn't output it to the Directv box.

I don't think the DVR is the issue at received commands without any problem when I use the Xbox One controller. The problem only arises when I use my Logitech Harmony remote.

 

My Harmony remote partially stopped working within certain apps, like Netflix and Amazon. I say partially, because I think it is just the lack of directional buttons. The colored buttons, FF and REW all seem to work. But I use the remote to move around
the apps to pick a show or movie to watch.

 

This issue must be related to the Harmony Remote (or any IR remote?). If I use voice commands, the Xbox One sends them with out problem. But if I use the Harmony, the onscreen display from the Xbox One shows the button I pressed, but doesn't send the command.
This is very strange, definitely a bug in the latest update of Xbox One.

I don't think this is an STB issue, since all of the DirecTv boxes use the same IR commands.

 

This is definitely an issue with the Xbox One, not any STB hardware or remotes. Everything was working fine before the update. Tried watching TV 30 minutes after update, and none of the media controls on my remote work anymore.

When I press play/ff/rewind on the remote, the Xbox One OSD highlights the button I pressed, but my STB never receives an IR signal. If I use the controller to perform the same actions, it works fine. I've tried this with 3 different universal remotes, all
of them exhibit the same issue.

This needs a patch ASAP.

 

Thankfully other people are starting to chime in. This needs to be fixed ASAP. Not having this functionality totally defeats the purpose of watching TV through the Xbox One. If it's not fixed in the March update, I'm disconnecting my STB from the Xbox
One.

Go chime in on the Logitech Harmony forum as well and light a fire under them to get Microsoft to fix the problem. I'm sure they have more pull with Microsoft than we do.

My feeling is this has something to do with Microsofts media remote they just announced. It's one of 2 possibilities: they updated functions and haven't passed those on to Logitech yet, or they purposefully broke universal IR commands in hopes to push their
new remote. For me the Menu and Info commands from my remote don't work in the blu-ray app, but the menu command works fine on the home screen, and the menu works fine from the xbox controller everywhere. Sounds fishy or weird to me.

 

Same here, do you have a DVR to try controlling? If so, see if that's been broken as well.

 

I have my remote set to just issue commands straight to my DirecTV DVR as I only use the xbox controls through voice. But I can setup another activity real quick to see what happens if I issue the commands to the xbox instead and I'll report back.

 

That's what I was thinking of doing, but why should I have to do any work to fix something that worked perfectly fine? I have it setup this way so I don't have to change Activities on the remote if I want to watch a movie or something else.

 

No I hear you, all was good from day one and all of a sudden things are broken all over the place. I personally setup to control DirecTV directly because I hate the OneGuide and I couldn't use the number pad without remapping all the buttons. But either
way and for either preference it shouldn't matter cause like you said it should work as it always has.

As for my test, I deleted the xbox and readded it to make sure the profile was up to date, setup a TV 2 activity and controlled all functions through the xbox. Play/Pause, FF, RW, all work without a problem and didn't even miss a command at all. Channel
changes from within OneGuide worked great as well. FWIW I'm using an HR-34 Genie receiver, not sure what everyone else is on. I no longer have any older receivers to try.

And there was another blu-ray app update, and I have still my problem of Menu and Info not working. This is all just a big headache right now. MS needs to get things worked out.
