DirecTv 4k signal not passing through Xbox One S.

It appears that the One S does not support 4k signal in from DirecTv 4k boxes. I initially thought it might be my receiver, which I am sure it isn't, but just to make sure, I hooked the Xbox directly to my TV and tried to watch 4k content, but it isn't
working. Does the One S not support 4k passthrough from Directv boxes? Is it something that can be fixed with an update? Thanks for any help in advance.

I've tried my C61k (DirecTV 4k Mini), Amazon 4k Fire TV and TiVo Bolt through the Xbox One S. 4k isn't passing through for any of them.

I have Xbox One and Directv 4K. I've noticed the Xbox blocks the pass through of the 4K and makes my tv not compatible for 4K viewing. Kind of sucks. Hope they update with firmware for it to be possible to still use my xbox connected to directv.

 

I can confirm that a 4k signal won't passthrough my Xbox One S either. I've tried my DirecTV C61k (4k capable), TiVo Bolt and Amazon 4k FireTV. The One S won't pass through 4k from any of them. This sucks and is the MAIN reason I went ahead and got an
Xbox One S. If I wanted to stick with separate inputs for my DirecTV and Xbox One I would have just stuck with my original Xbox One. Not happy...

 

I agree. Xbox one s to manage all my 4K devices was why I wanted it most. It will now be relegated to the one off device that doesn't work well with all my other 4K devices.

 

I was standing on the edge of the fence on whether or not to buy one of these and this just killed it for me.

Do we know if this is a software thing that could be patched up through an update and fixed or is it a hardware issue that simply won't be addressed until Scorpio (maybe?)?

Xbox Support told me they believe it is a software issue that can be patched but it didn't exactly sound like a sure/confident response at all.

 

No one has confirmed anything.. Hell, Microsoft hasn't even commented on it anywhere.

 

I just upgraded my receiver from DirecTv prior to reading this now I'm bummed. I really hope this is a software fix because I don't want to be switching inputs - Xbox already got me to lazy to do that... unless they make Cortana do it for me, Lol.

As a couple people stated earlier, at the moment the Xbox One does not pass through 4K video. I would suggest going to the
Feedback Site and submitting your ideas for improvements there.

 

I asked this a while back and no one from Microsoft would answer. I too have the 4K DirecTV Reveiver and purchased another Xbox one S "hoping" it had 4K pass-through. I spent a couple of hours with tech support which they said it should work. Well it doesn't.
I had my 1080p received connected to my Xbox with Kinect and always used the voice commands. When I upgraded my tv and receiver to 4K I lost those features. I thought I would finally get it back. I guess not, thanks Microsoft. I guess they wouldn't answer
knowing they could get another sale....

According to "Official Staff" in this post it's not supposed to work..

Now someone is saying they called support and support things it should work.

Which is it??

And if it's "not supposed to" work then that's a pretty lame design!
