Direct connection from Xbox One to an external speaker

I just got my Xbox One and tried to connect it to my portable speaker. But there is no normal aux port on the Xbox One to plug a 3.5mm cable and connect to my external speaker.

Its really frustrating that a Home entertainment system can't even connect to a speaker.

Please be advised that my monitor doesnt have built-in speakers, and it can't connect to any external sound bar or speaker.

Its so funny that Microsoft pretends people using the same system (TV + soundbar). An agent recommended me to buy the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter. Oh I
don't want to plug it into the controller, and then connect to the speaker. The cable is gonna disturb me while I'm playing games. And it just doesn't sound right.

Is there anyone suffering from this stupid bug? I'm planning to return the Xbox One. I just can't stand the fact that I cant connect the xbox to a normal speaker.

    :)

This is old, but I believe this is the direction they are still heading with Cortana.

    Xbox Live MTU error.

Which external adapter are you using, the white or the black one with dual antennae? Are you still experiencing the issue with a direct connection to your gateway?

Neither of the new systems have 3.5 audio out jacks. So your choices are to get the adapter and plug it in to your controller, buy microsofts stereo headset that comes with the adapter, buy a sound bar (most soundbars i've seen support optical cables), buy
a receiver that supports optical or hdmi, buy a tv or monitor with built in speakers. No way around it you'll have to buy something or go back to the legacy systems or pc.

I don't want to spend money to be able to listen to the sound comes out from the Xbox One which already costs me $500. I have a monitor, a speaker, and a 3.5mm cable. And all I have to do is to connect the Xbox 1 to them and play. I am not responsible for
what should have been done by the manufacturer. My only choice is to return the Xbox One.

Not to pick on you but "what you should have done" was research a little more into something you decided to drop $500 for.

Do u expect a 2014 car without an aux port or Bluetooth capability? Or a laptop without hdmi port? This is Xbox One, not the 360.

I told it to my friends and all of them were surprised. They even asked me about the bluetooth of the Xbox one. And no, it doesnt have Bluetooth. Dont you know that there are plenty of speakers with Bluetooth and "normal" aux ports and no optical port?

And what also *** me off was the battery of the controller. Oh it's a pair of Duracell, not a rechargeable one which you must buy separately. But I'm fine because I had rechargeable AA batteries from my camera flash.

Anyway, thanks for your expensive solutions.

To support Grits here, I have to say I see your last point, but from the opposite way round. Both new Gen consoles have optical out only. My Surround sound system is 8 years old, Cost £70 from Argos, and STILL has an optical in.

I don't expect any sound system out in the last 5 years to have no optical in.

I'm also surprised that your monitor doesn't at least have audio outs for optional speaker output.

TBH of all the setup you've described, I'm not sure why you've decided the Xbox One is the problem.

Regardless. Why not just get a digital to analogue adaptor to let you use 3.5 jacks or coaxial connections from an optical signal like this one:
