    Lately when I've been turning on my Xbox One, the television screen is dark. I can see pictures, but it is very dark -- like the Xbox or TV is in some sort of screensaver mode.

    My One is set up to display tv on power on. The problem persists if I go to the home screen.

    Cycling the tv power doesn't fix it.

    Cycling the Xbox One power has fixed it every time so far.

    I didn't see this problem before the most recent update (although that may just be coincidence).

    another person here with the same issue, If Xbox (Microsoft) are aware its effecting so many people it should be a priority. What are they doing to compensate those effected........

    Hey guys. If I remember correctly, this is an issue Microsoft are aware of and should have a fix for very soon. I'll try to find a source for that if I can.

    Hey there, Coyote! Sorry to hear about the screen issues. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can get this issue sorted.



    Please give the following troubleshooting steps a try:



    • Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
    • Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
    • Wait 5 minutes and then plug in your console.
    • Power on your console and check to see if the issue is continuing to occur.
    • If your screen is still dimmed, try using a different HDMI cable if possible.
    • You can also try plugging your HDMI cable into a different HDMI port on your TV.
    If these don't end up working for you, your console may need to be repaired. You can set one up through our
    Online Service Center or
    contact us     via phone or chat support to help you out.

    Hopefully everything gets sorted out! Please do post back if a repair doesn't end up working for you. Dim screen on power on :)

    So far so good. I just turned it off an on after performing these steps above about an hour or so ago. I'll know more in the morning. Give it a try! Thanks for the suggestion.

    I'm glad I'm not the only one with the problem.

    I followed the instructions and it power on correctly. I'll have to see if it keeps powering on correctly.

    I also had a problem just before I tried this where I couldn't connect to Destiny servers because of "local connectivity issues". Following these steps fixed that too.

    I unplugged the console for five minutes then plugged it back in and restarted it.

    Last couple of days this has been happenig to me.dim on start up but ok on reboot.seems to keep doing it if xbox is turned off for a few hours.seems its happening to a few people so hope it gets a fix soon

    I am having the same issue as the last two posts. Dim on cold boot, then when I restart the xbox it's fixed. I am in the preview programme and it seems to be a software bug.

    I started having this issue within the past week ago or so too. When I turn on my xbox it is very dim on my tv like it has gone idle. I switch through menus and start apps and it still stays dim. I thought it was my tv so I moved my Hdmi so it went straight
    from my tv to my cable box and the display looked fine. Plugged it back into xbox and it was dim again, so definitely an issue with the XB1. I did a hard restart of the xbox and when it powered back on it was fine. This has become a daily issue, so I hope
    microsoft can fix it so I do not have to do a hard restart on my XB1 each day.
