Dim Light Feature

ok, it's time for this feature to be added. It's absolutely ridiculous that the Xbox One is now this old and there is still no option to dim the power light on the console and the controllers. We know it's possible. I assumed it was somehow being withheld
because you wanted to force people to buy the Kinect since it could sense and dim the lights. Now the Kinect is essentially discontinued.

It's time, take the feedback that you've received from numerous people for YEARS. Give us this extremely simple feature so when we play at night, we aren't annoyed, when we watch tv at night through the xbox, our families aren't annoyed. Nothing about
adding this feature is hard, just do it already.

Xbox power light dimming?

Seems to change based on the light in the room. Kinda like when your phone screen dims. Dark room = dim Xbox logos on the system, Kinect and controller, bright room = bright light.

 

My xbox one and kinect make me feel so disappointed....

I need to be able to dim my lights.

 

Even with Kinect, it doesn't work that well anymore.

I'd like to see this added though, for the console, controller, and Kinect lights.

So the power light on your controller & console are brighter than your tv?

 

If you are in a dark room watching a show or playing a game, that white light is very bright and annoying.

 

It's already out there with around 1400 votes and 200 comments. It feels like the spot good ideas go to die. This one is so simple and so basic to add, it should have been done a long time ago.

 

Stick a piece of insulation tape over it, problem sorted if it bothers you that much.

 

But brighter than your tv? How does it annoy your family as well ? That makes no sense.

I often play in a dark room & can't say it's annoying at all.

 

What is all this "brighter than your TV" nonsense? As if a light has to be the brightest light in the room to be annoying. Oh, and now we have the old "well it doesn't bother me so it's not an issue for anyone" rubbish rolling out as well.

If it doesn't annoy you, that's fine. It annoys me. It annoys the OP. It annoys the 1,400 people that upvoted the Uservoice thread about it.

 

Do point out where I said if it doesn't bother me then it doesn't bother anyone.

As for the tv thing,if you are going to use something in your reasons to add a feature then you should use a reason that makes sense.

Unless you game on a 2mm screen then the lights on a controller/console are not brighter than your tv.

So 1400 people voted for this feature,that means several million people haven't.

 

All of your responses imply that your opinion is what matters and that the OP's is somehow "wrong" - you do this all the time to people. Your opinion doesn't matter though. What matters is that some people find the lights annoying, not that you don't.

Your second sentence makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. "I find the lights annoying" is already a reason that makes sense.

Again, it doesn't matter whether the lights are not brighter than the TV. It matters that some people find them annoying.

Several million people don't use the Uservoice website, as the most popular things on there only have a few thousand votes. Only 1,300 people voted for disabling the Xbox start-up sound, for example, yet MS implemented that: -

You'd probably have been telling someone who asked for this "BUT IS IT LOUDER THAN YOUR TV???" while saying "MILLIONS DON'T WANT IT!!!".

 

I have never said or implied that MY OPINION means that someone else is wrong if it differs from mine.

If that's how you see things then that's a problem at your end.

No, your opinion doesn't matter at all. You said you often play in a dark room and the lights don't bother you, but that's completely irrelevant. What matters is that it DOES bother others. If MS added the option the OP is asking for, it wouldn't affect
you in any way, but it would make other people's experiences better. You're too short-sighted to see that though, almost like some kind of bright light has blinded you to considering other people's opinions.....
