Dim display after booting Xbox one

Recently I have been experiencing issues after turning on my console. The screen will be extremely dim. The white Xbox one logo that displays during startup appears almost dark grey. And when I'm at the home screen it's very dark. Restarting the console
fixes this issue. But it happens everytime I turn it on for the first of the day. Could this be a software update issue after the last update?

Screen brightness very low when turning system on

I'm having the same problem on my Xbox One. All my other devices hooked up to my TV display perfectly, and are not super dim like when I turn my Xbox on.

 

Dimming while 10min in a show

My one dims too after 10 minutes.. Doesn't matter if it's HBO, YouTube, twitch, casting, it dims.

So dumb.

Problem lately. I just restart it and it's fine. Really annoying though

 

Have you tried a cool reboot ? To do so, switch off your Xbox. Unplug your power cable and wait 5 to 10 minutes. Restart your Xbox.

It may solve your issue one for all.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your Xbox One! The issue in which you're describing has been reported by an overabundance of users so I don't think it's an issue on your side but rather an issue on Xbox's side. It could be a new bug from
the latest system update... if so, hopefully it gets addressed in a timely manner!

 

A hard reset fixed this issue for me.

 

I have been having this issue, for at least the last 2 weeks. It is very annoying. Hoping for a fix.

 

I have been having this issue for about a week now (was out on vacation for several weeks before, so maybe longer). Will try a hard reset here in a few and report back...

 

I got the same issue as well just started yesterday and i thought my tv was going out but tv is good. After a few resets it cleared but it popped up again today....that august update has really *** things up. had to send it in last month to fix the "reads
everything else but xbox one discs" issue. Now they need to fix this issue as well

 

I forgot to report back, a full power cycle of the Xbox did fix the issue for a few weeks. It started again about a week ago or so ago, and I've been too lazy to unplug the power again. A bit of an annoyance, but no major deal.

 

Like others here, I was having the same issue. Many believe it to be a bug in the latest update. We understand your frustration. A hard reset fixed the problem for me. Hope that clears up any issues on your side.

 

I'd like to chime in here and add my name to the list of users getting a dim picture. Glad it's possibly just a software issue and not my Xbox. Thanks for the tip on a hard reset, seems to have temporarily fixed the issue for me.

 

I had it pop up for the first time today while using the Netflix app. Never seen this before but it happened 2x in a 1 hour span. Doesn't do it when I watch tv... yet.

To reset your display settings, follow these steps:

Make sure there’s no disc in the disc tray.

Turn off the console.

Turn on the console.

Note If you’re using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, make sure only one wireless controller is connected to the console, and then turn off and restart the console by using the Guide button on that controller.

As the console starts, press and hold Y while pulling the right trigger on the controller. The display settings are reset to the default settings, and then the console automatically restarts.

Xbox 360 E or Xbox 360 S console: To reset display setting on these console models, you can also just turn off the console and then hold the power button on the front of the console down for about 10 seconds. (The lights will flash several times.)
