Digital Purchases are tagged with my incorrect address and I am paying the wrong tax

Hello,

I have had this issue for quite some time now, but it seems whenever I make a digital purchase through my Xbox One and Xbox 360 I am billed for it to my original address in New Brunswick (where I first created my Xbox Live account years ago), and not my
current address in Alberta. A little over a year ago, I spoke to someone from Microsoft support who helped me adjust my information on the commerce.microsoft.com site which fixed the issue for a while. I also have made sure my Xbox region is correctly
set just in case that would effect it, though the issue occurs regardless of whether I purchase through the website on a PC or on my console itself.

At Christmas last year I purchased an Xbox One for my sister in New Brunswick (bought online in Alberta, shipped directly to her there) and after that I noticed again I was being charged incorrect tax rates on all of my digital purchases. When I shipped the
Xbox to the address in New Brunswick, it automatically updated my billing address and I didn't realize for some time after. I corrected the commerce site again, but now I am finding once again when I make digital purchases I am being charged the wrong tax
rate. This time, however, my receipts on the commerce site show my address to be one in New Brunswick, but when I check the commerce site again for my billing address it shows my correct address. I am not sure what is going on and I am hoping someone can
assist!

I don't know that I expect any sort of refund for any of this, but it's all just a bit frustrating given that it just doesn't seem to accept I have changed addresses, and it's really starting to add up. If anyone has any insight on how to proceed it would
be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to mention in my last post, not paying tax on digital purchases also makes it easy.

You can have multiple addresses in your Amazon account. When I make a purchase and the AU address doesn't work I just click 'change address' and choose my CA or OR address I have with Shipito. For digital purchases I always use the latter because I wont
get charged sales tax.

I am fairly certain in the UK it is not legal to advertise a price that doesn't include sales tax (VAT). On holidays in the US I still get caught out by having to pay tax on everything when I get to the till and have no idea of the price until I pay!

So, we can be fairly certain of a few things:

1. The wording on the website is wrong. It states 2 years from purchase but is in fact 3 years (standard warranty plus 2 additional years).

2. There is incorrect tax of 23% added at last step of checkout when you purchase online, perhaps even illegal?

3. If you buy the extended warranty over the phone from MS store there is no link with your console and support cannot see it so if you need to claim your £59 email confirmation is probably worthless.

M3tal is correct. Unless you live in a country where VAT (Value Added Tax) is included in the price you must account for tax on all purchases. Sadly, when you purchase a gift card from a retailer you get charged twice for tax. Once at the store and then
again when you purchase a digital item. For this reason I tend to use a credit card or paypal for my purchases. This way I only pay tax once form my content.
