Digital purchase from friend to me?

So I dont wanna spend money on C.O.D. Just how it is. My friend asked if he bought it for me would i play it with him, told him sure if you wanna buy it for me, ill play it with you.

So he wants to buy a digital coy for me, here is the catch and my questions.

I live in canada, he lives down south in he usa. so i know if he goes and buys the xbox gift cards, those dont and will not work.

He wants to download my gamertag/profile to his xbox, purchase call of duty with his credit card info or use a xbox gift card if it will allow him being as now the profile is in his "region" ( i doubt that will work)

My question is, will this work. if he downloads/recovers my profile to his xbox, purchases cod on my profile. then i download my profile back and start the download on to my xbox/harddrive?

or is there a different solution?

Xbox One digital download code region locked?

I'm willing to purchase a digital download code for FIFA 15 from my friend who lives in London (EU). The question is will I be able to redeem the code on my Xbox live account which is US based or the digital download codes are region locked?

They should add a feature purchase a new digital game for a friend and they will get a text message with a redeem code from Xbox. I own a game but cant buy a 2nd digital copy for a friend to play too. THIS NOT A TRANSFER OF DIGITAL OWNERSHIP OF A CURRENTLY
OWNED COPY.

Letting him have access to your account is not a good idea and is actually a violate of the code of conduct. So you'd be putting your account at risk for being banned.

He could buy a Canadian gift card from a Canadian site and give you the code.

k so couple things

1. i have read through the terms of use and have not seen that at all. i dont think that is the case unless i have missed something you would like to post for me?

it is willingly giving my friend i have known for over 10 years, pretty much a brother. so i trust him on that context, on the point of code of conduct, like said i could not find anything. willingly allowing my information.

2. why would he drive to canada to buy a gift card when he lives in southern usa, that is pointless.

my question still stands? in my op, would that work.

2. I didn't say he had to drive to Canada. He can buy a gift card from a Canadian website like Amazon.ca instead of Amazon.com.

 

Also, even if he had access to your account, since it is set for Canada it would not accept a billing address for a credit card from the US.

 

That makes no sense. that means any credit card is region specific. to that region ONLY! I order stuff all the time from he usa with a canadian credit card. to two different addresses because of my job. why would xbox live be different. if a credit card
from he usa is attached to a canadian account i dont see why that would not work.

I understand the gift cards being region specific, but credit cards? i have a really hard time with that. no where that i can find online says that is the case. why i am asking if anyone knows.

and that code of conduct says nothing about it being against policy or about getting banned. you may want to choose your words more carefully. if there was a risk of getting banned it should be mentioned in the policy. that is heeded more as a warning for
protecting my account/information. sharing an account is not against the rules. if it was then how come there is an option to share games on the xbox one via having account information with friends?

 

The way Live's billing system is set up, since your account is set up for Canada, it won't let you enter a US address or vice versa. If you were to go to
Sign in to your Microsoft account and try to add a new payment option it will have your country set for Canada and you won't be able to add a US address. I'm not sure why they have it set up that way,
but they do.

Also, as far as the Code of Conduct, the last section states: If you violate the Code of Conduct or the Terms of Use, action(s) may be taken against your account and/or console, including but not limited to the following......Microsoft also reserves the
right to immediately terminate or suspend a user for violations. The option to share games is available, but you don't need to share your account information in order to do so.
