Digital Guardian Edition release time

Ok, i'm trying to understand why i have to wait 3 hours(east coast) to actually play the game september 9th. I get that we're 3 hours ahead of the west coast, but so what! It's still the 9th. It's not a game breaker or anything, but the people waiting in
line at Gamestop don't have to wait until 3:01 am. So why do those of us on the east coast who pre-ordered the digital guardian edition have to? Just curious.

It's actually Bungie that put the time on it...Don't know why and I've been tweeting them everyday with hopes that with me and others tweeting, they will let everyone play at midnight. Having said that, rumor has it that everyone "will" be able to play it
at midnight...take that with a grain of salt...But I gotta think, "Why would everyone on the planet, in every time zone get to play it at midnight except for the digital copies"?? Doesn't sound right huh? "Everyone but the digital copies"..Like I said, can't
see why they would do that!! It might just be me, but I'm willing to bet, digital buyers will get to play it at midnight...

It says 3am but I think it will be available to play at midnight. The servers will be up then on the east coast when people get their games at midnight from Gamestop. I'm gonna try at midnight to play my digital guardian edition that I downloaded from the
xbox store and see if it works. I'm sure other will do the same.

Actually, yes... I do sleep at night. Which is the entire reason I'm not happy about it. People who keep saying 'it's only 3 more hours' are missing the point entirely. 12am is
a feasible (enough) time for me to start playing a game after install and play a little before bedtime. 3am is ridiculously not. Digital is supposed to be the future, it's supposed to be (and is for the most part) more convenient... and yet... one of the biggest
times that this convenience should be screaming 'go digital' at the top of its lungs, it falls miserably short... well, not if you're on the west coast I guess.

So, what is 3 more hours?? The difference between me playing the game as soon as it releases, or waiting until the next day. And no, it isn't that I'm not patient enough to wait,
but the whole idea of pre ordering (for me) is to have it as soon as it's released. Not the next day. Because... you know... most people (myself included) will be sleeping at 3am. Of course, if I were that intent on playing it as soon as it's released, I could
just go wait in line at a midnight release somewhere and get a physical copy. But that wouldn't be very convenient... you know... like digital is supposed to be... would it?

^^I get enough sleep... I even nap if I need to. No, it's not sleep I need. What I'd like is for certain people to understand when it's not so much about 'a few hours' as it is about a point... but I'm not holding my breath on that one. Appreciate the concern
though...

 

Right there with you Blue. It's after twelve and still nothing. I was going to do some character creation for a bit before I went to bed but I guess not. It's the principal of the thing that no one seems to be grasping here.

 

Still can't find the digital guardian on the 360.

We keep hearing how MS and game devs all want us to go digital. Yet, the only advantage I've actually experienced with digital is not having to get up off my *** to change discs... that's it. Aside from that single aspect, for me so far, physical has won
out over digital by comparison. Trade in - physical. Price drops - physical. Install time - physical. Lending/sharing - physical. Midnight releases - physical.

DGMW, I'd love to go all digital. It would be nice to not have discs to mess with. But why would I, or should I, support something that throws more cons at me than pros?

In fact, I rented Destiny from GF. It shipped yesterday and arrived in the mail today... on release day. I work mostly evenings and I don't game until after I get home from work. Therefore, going digital and pre ordering Destiny gave no significant advantage
to me since I was sleeping long before I could even have played it last night. Funny part is, if they had made the digital pre order available to play at 12am EST, I would have gladly pre ordered and played it last night.

Oh well, now I'll just rent it until the price comes down (and for a rented physical copy, that won't be long) before I buy. Bungie's loss...
