Hay guys if I sold my xbox one and deleted my gamertag would someone be able to play the games left in the console

I'll be going 90% digital I think. The only games I will get physical copies are will be ones that I'm still not sure about or ones that may have a short campaign with no replay value. Those I will just buy and sell as soon as I'm done with.

When is disc swapping ever an issue??

 

No - they games that are installed are either a) digital - in which case they are linked to your Gamertag, or b) disc based - in which case the owner needs a disc of the game to play (and even then they would not be able to play your game saves, as they
too are linked to your Gamertag).

 

YEs they would... unless you remove the console as your HOME console... just deleting the name from log in is not enough

 

i got this when i bought combo breaker pack for ki on my old account but decide to make a new profile for xbox1 and bought ki ultimate pack before i realized i still had the combo pack on the xbox

 

Well if I list the console as including games would this be ok I will just delete my gamertag only

 

While you could list the games, you are not allowed to sell digital titles. The games cannot be considered part of the sale.

It's also unscrupulous to sell an Xbox One with games on it, then buy another later on and set it as your Home console. That renders the first console's games unplayable.

If I was the purchaser of a used console with digital games on it, I would be extremely wary.... knowing that if the seller ever did buy another Xbox *poof* all of those games are gone.

 

Going back to what @tohellnbak said - I understand the concept of a "Home" Xbox setting, but if you actually remove the Gamertag from the console then isn't it effectively going to ask for your password before recreating the GT on the X1.

i.e. Even a Home Xbox still needs the ability to log in and check credentials of your GT.

Anyone actually tried it? i.e. delete a GT from a Home X1 and see if it lets you play games without needing the GT's password?

 

No.. removing the sign in only removes your name from the console. The actual console settings itself would still belong to the original setter. he would have to delete his name and details, remove the console from being his home and then reset to factory
default.

Then he could sell it.

Now if he tries to sell with digital games loaded and does not remove the home console, the buyer would be able to play those game until he sets another console as his home and/or his XBL subscription runs out. By him stating he no longer wants an X1 the
chances of his sub canceling are pretty good. And actually the transfer of gamer tags is against TOS and both parties could be banned for doing that,

and to answer your second question... as the way home gold works now.. the Home Console owner does not even need to be logged into the console. So password or not, it will not stop another gamertag from playing.
