Digital Game Purchases

If you have read any of my posts you will be aware of my disappointment with xbox one and how I feel ripped off...... Another gripe is my purchased digital game downloads on the xbox 360, where are they? Or where is my refund? I spent a small fortune on
game downloads but can't find any thing or any acknowledgement of my purchases with Microsoft. Is this something Microsoft will acknowledge or am I supposed to accept that its money down the drain? I understand that the xbox one is not backwards compatable
but surely some form of refund should have been offered?! Fortunately my film/movie purchases are available on xbox one but I cannot find my previous game purchases....... Please please correct me if I'm wrong, I used to be a hardcore xbox fan and have owned
all xbox consoles, I now however am that disheartened with Microsoft I am considering selling my xbox one.

Short answer for most cases is no. There have been some promotions by Activision where if you bought Destiny or either of the two last Call of Duty games prior to a certain date, you would get the Xbox One version for free - and that cut-off date for Destinty
and CoD:AW is on the 15th of this month. Some DLC for certain games will also carry over, like Dance Central, Rocksmith 2014, and Pinball FX2 but the majority won't. Minecraft you can upgrade for $5 if you already have it on the 360. Some Season Passes also
had dual license that expired over time, Destiny and CoD:AW are current applicable titles but will also expire on the 15th. Nearly every other game you will have to purchase again if you want the Xbox One version.

I have purchased Fifa 16 digitally back in December, normally once you own a game when you click on it on xbox.com it says already owned, but for some reason when I click on fifa 16 it still gives me the option to purchase it? Anyone know why this game doesn't
shown as owned even though I own it? Thank you!

 

They are still there. Just because you bought an xbox one doesn't mean you had to get rid of your 360.

If you use a 360 your digital games will still be there in your download history.

It's been well publicised that there is no backwards compatibilty so if you still wanted to play your 360 games you should have kept your 360.

It would be totally pointless listing your 360 games on the xbox one console when you can't even play them.

 

This just proves that digital downloads are a complete rip off as they have absolutely no resale value whatsoever

 

Thats why i just think of them as rentals. Eventually the 360 live servers will be shut down. When this happens all digital games and DLC purchased will no longer be available.

A good solution would be a system where you could surrender your license to a game in exhange for a good discount on another game which would essentially be a trade-in system

 

The 360 games only work on the 360, regardless of whether they were on disc or downloaded. There is no backwards compatibility on the Xbox One, which means only games designed for the One will work on it. Just because a title is a downloadable game does
not mean it was coded any different than one on a disc - it was just delivered on a different media. As Malacath said, this had been widely stated beforehand that if you wanted to continue to play your 360 games, you would need to keep your 360 which is one
of the reasons Microsoft has pledged to support the platform for at least a few more years. This situation is no different than that for people moving from the PS3 to the PS4, as that system also has no backwards compatibility. Several people have made the
same assumption you did that XBL games would work just because they are downloadable which just isn't true. You still own the license to all the games you purchased, you just need to have a 360 to play them on.

 

Digital downloads are a complete con and rip off. I kept my 360 when I bought the Xone but my problem is with the xbox one digital downloads. I downloaded call of duty ghost on the Xone and the game totally sucks. Normally I would trade or sell the game
for something new but now I'm stuck with a digital download I will never play again. Never again!!!

 

I also will never purchase a digital download game again.
