Digital Game Pre-Orders "Soon" says Dev.

Sunset Overdrive developer Insomniac Games says the functionality should be available sometime before launch in October.

Does Pre-ordering digitally also download the game in the background and be available to play on the launch date @ 12:00 AM?

That would be great if it did.

Destiny Digital Guardian Edition: Do we get it?

Insomniac has apparently said that digital pre-orders are coming soon and Sunset Overdrive digital pre-orders even get a special bonus. Hopefully the digital pre-ordering will arrive in time for Destiny.

This quote is from the Computer and Video games site, CVG cites Sunset TV as the source for the quote.

Yes.

Nothing of the like has been announced.

I wouldn't think so as it's being published straight through Xbox Live from the publisher, but again, no details on digital pre-orders.

 

Not sure what the "nifty gifty" exclusive for preordering digitally would be but I'm excited!

That's the question of the day. One I'd like to know the answer to myself, because digitally pre-ordering and pre-loading are 2 different things. Having it pre-loaded and ready to play @ 12am would make it much more enticing for me to digitally pre-order.
Waiting for a large download to start at 12am would probably mean it would be time for bed or past that time before I got to play the game anyway. If the whole idea is to have it and play it ASAP after it's released, why bother?

If I'd have to wait to play it anyway, I could just rent it. Gamefly usually ships new releases the day before release, so it shows up on release day for me anyway. Then I could just rent it until it shows up on DwG and buy it digitally then. True that I
may not save that much, if any, since I'd still be paying the monthly rental sub to Gamefly, but at least I'd still be playing the game the same day either way and I wouldn't have the long(er) wait for it to install via DL.

 

I don't see the point. It's not like they're gonna run out of digital copies.

I posted this in the other thread about this but you can now preorder movies from Xbox Video. So games should be available very soon.

 

Pre-orders/loads are a must for me. Make it happen.
