Digital game pass games are crashing on Xbox Series X

Hi all,

I just got an Xbox Series X (finally) and played a couple games with no issue (Destiny 2 being one of them). Then my wife wanted to try Twelve Minutes and within a few loops the game was either hard crashing the system and sometimes just crashing to the dashboard. This is shocking to me and I figured it was the game, but I booted up MLB the Show 21 and it happened there too.

I've tried to reboot, hard restart, reset to factory (keep apps), reset to factory completely, change profiles, go from wifi to hard wired... all to no avail. I really don't think it's a hardware issue considering I've played other games without issue but these consistently crash and are unplayable.

What should I do? I really don't want to ship my xbox back for "repair" when I think there should be a better way to fix this.

i tried this, played almost nine full innings of MLB the Show and then crashed before the game ended. I was so hopeful, but still a crash.

Then this is really a hardware situation as there's no other possibility after all you did

Hello So Cal JPR,

It seems you have tried most of the troubleshooting steps dedicated to solving this problem!

I would strongly suggest trying these below:

Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address > Clear

Then select System > Settings > devices and streaming > blue ray > persistent storage > clear three times > restart console.

Also it’s possible that the local save for these games has become corrupted.

Deleting the local save and re-syncing with the cloud might correct the problem.

First, delete the local save:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide and then select My games & apps > See all > Games.
Highlight the game title, and then press the Menu button on your controller.
Select Manage game and add-ons > Saved data.
Select Delete all to remove the local save of this game, then follow the prompts.

After you delete the local save, restart your Xbox:

Press and hold the Xbox button in the center of your controller.
Select Restart console, then follow the prompts.

After you restart your Xbox, re-sync your saved games to the cloud. Your saved games are automatically stored in the cloud while you’re connected to the Xbox service.

Try playing the game again to see if re-syncing with the cloud corrected the game problem.

But you have and external storage device plugged?

internal ssd on the device. no external. also i'm NOT a part of the xbox insider program, as it seems that breaks things for others. I'm not on it.
