Digital download pre-ordering

Digital download pre-ordering, I did a search and did not find much, so hopefully someone has an answer. Is this possible, if not will it become possible? I don't care about being able to download early then have it "activate" on launch although that would
be cool. I'm more interested in why we are missing out on "bonus" content as much of a joke as that is most of the time, feel like paying the same price but getting less sucks. Any answers are appreciated.

Pre-order digital download?

The only way to pre=order a digital download is to go to a Gamestop, or any other retailer and pre-order it that way. There is no pre-ordering from the console yet.

 

I agree. I recently signed into my 360 and saw the ad for the Titanfall promo. When I looked at what it was saying, it was implied that the bonus would apply to a digital preorder, but when I attempted to get a digital preorder I kept being told that it
would ship to me. Gaming has been moving toward a completely digital model for some time, but continues to be held back by *** like this.

You would think that a digital preorder model would exist since they implemented the auto update feature that downloads new content that you have paid for.

 

I agree completely, very surprised at this as I would presume developers and publishers would be pushing for this to more accurately gauge sales, promotions etc. I hope this gets an answer at some point, makes no sense to me. This needs to happen, but they
should also look at what steam is implementing as far as the pre-pay feature also for games still in development. Essentially you pay to be a beta tester but that also indicates a level of interest and can help companies get revenue in to complete games or
delay them until they are ready without taking as much of an overhead hit.

 

I hope Microsoft are listening their public everyone wants the digital pre-ordering and the Ps4 already has it is a disadvantage that we xbox one costumers have

 

Its just been announced on Gamescom it will start with Forza Horizon 2 and FIFA 15 and other games added later.

 

So starting September 26 this option will be available. It is important to note that from the reading I have done this option may not be for all games. I think Microsoft is leaving it to the publishers discretion.

At Gamescom they mentioned FIFA 15 and Forza Horizon 2 would be the first games to offer pre-order/pre-loading and they are both out in late September.

So it will be available before September 26th as that is the day FIFA 15 comes out so you can't pre-order/pre-load a game that is already out. Expect it maybe a week or so before the 26th.

 

Your right I was in error, a pre load/pre order wouldn't make much since the day of lol

 

This should have been an option from the beginning. I found myself pre-ordering on my PS4 for the last month or so. If the option was available I would be doing those on the Xbox.

 

I know that I pre-ordered Destiny: The Taken King a while ago through the Xbox Store. However, I cannot find my confirmation email. Is there a way to track my pre-order?

 

Depends what content you are talking about.

Some content is assigned to retailers by the developer/publisher. Microsoft can't sell it/include it in the digital version unless the publisher allows them to.

This is nothing to do with Microsoft not giving you everything, it is publishers using the old retail model and providing retailers incentives to generate their own pre-orders.

Until digital becomes the norm, this won't change. Wal-mart and GameStop have too much purchasing power and control over the publishers.
