Digital copies

Does anyone know what happens if you buy a better version of a game that you already own? For example if I bought Mortal Kombat XL but I already have Mortal Kombat? To clarify I am talking about digital copies.

Can disc installs run without the disc if you have a DLC code?

It's not a "DLC code", just a digital copy of the game.

Yes, one can use the disc to install a game, then activate a digital copy. The digital copy will not need to re-download, it'll automatically use the disc install.

Physical copies of games FTW. I prefer physical copies over digital as I like to have them displayed. Physical copies and digital copies each have pros and cons though.

 

Nothing happens. You will have both copies of the games.

 

If it's possible I would recommend buying any upgrade dlc for the game if its available before buying a new copy.

In most cases, the extra content will simply unlock without any issues. Depending on the game however, you might have to uninstall the original version and redownload the "better version,'

 

Basically you will own both versions.

It is better to buy addons, dlc, passes etc. separately to the game you own than spending money on higher version and have second copy of the game.
