digital bought game not shown as owned and not able to install

I highly recommend following the troubleshooting steps here:

After each step try to see if the issue is fixed!

First, please select System > Settings > account > remove accounts and then select your account and select Remove to confirm.

Then, hold down the power button for about 10 seconds, until the console shuts off, then unplug the power cord and wait for 2-3 minutes before plugging it back in and turn on the Xbox.

If the issue persists, please select System > Settings > devices and streaming > blue ray > persistent storage > clear three times > restart console.

If you are still encountering the same issue, please select System > Settings > System > Console info > Select Reset console > Choose Reset and keep my games and apps

Sorry to hear it. If it was a digital version that you owned then it would have shown up in the Ready to Install list. However, as you've said it was a disc version you will either need to purchase a new disc or digital version of the game.

I also own the game digitally and it is shown in my library, however, there is no “install for free” option within the windows store. I feel as if there is some sort of bug with my account.

To clarify, how do you own the game? Digitally or via a Disc? If you own the game digitally on your account you should be able to redownload the game from the Ready to Install section on the console.

Since the Series S is digital only, you would need to purchase the game digitally in order to be able to play it. Even if you have the game installed, the disc is required to be in the drive to prove you own the game in order to be able to play it.
