  1. Digital Audio Out - TV or Xbox One.

    Hi,

Just purchased a 2nd hand pair of Turtle X42s. The guide states to plug the optical cable into the 'Xbox 360 digital out' from the TB wireless transmitter. However, last night I had plugged it into my TV into the digital out port. (I have only read the guide
    today)

Everything seemed to be working fine. My question is, what difference does it make if I plug the cable into the TV instead of my Xbox One?

I am aware of the chat incompatibility at the moment until the adapter comes out but the sound seemed just fine pumping through the headphones.

    Thanks

    :)

  4. So I can leave it connected to the TV rather than the Xbox One and there won't be any difference in quality/performance?

Dolby Digital update Xbox One, when?

    FINALLY THE ANSWER

I have found a work around for this. I worked to figure out a solution for a while and while I was at work the other day it just hit me. Follow these instructions and you can get digital sound with dolby support for your turtle beach headsets. Note that
this may not work for all, I have the PX4s and a dolby surround sound 3d bluray player (a dolby supported system with an hdmi input is required for this to work as well as a digital audio out on your tv)

Step 1. Unplug your current setup and start fresh..

Step 2. Plug your Xbox one hdmi output into your dolby supported surround sound system.

Step 3. Go to audio settings on your xbox one. Under HDMI output change to 5.1 uncompressed (or 7.1 if your headset supports that, I have not tried 7.1 but I imagine it would still work).

Step 4. Unplug the hdmi from your Surround sound and plug it in the back of your tv (the point to this is most TVs do not support dolby and if you plug the hdmi into the tv and try to change the setting on the xbox it will tell you that it is not supported.
So we are tricking the xbox and tv into passing the digital signal from the hdmi to the digital output through the tv.

Step 5. Go to your TVs audio settings and make sure the digital audio out is on. I have an LG and I set it to "auto" while you are at it go ahead and cut off the tv speakers(optional).

Step 6. Plug in a digital audio cable into the digital out on your tv and plug the other end into your turtle beach control box through the digital audio in slot.

The turtle beach headset will now work with digital audio from your xbox console. Xbox - HDMI > TV - digital out > turtle beach digital in.

(Optional) step 7. If you want audio through your surround sound, run a digital audio cable from the digital out on the turtle beach box to the digital audio in on your surround sound.

    Enjoy!!!!!!

    Please help! Audio problems!

I had the same problem Raicrow, but it may not be for the same reasons.

I changed my audio in Settings > Display & Sound > Digital Audio. I can't remember what they were set to, but my updated settings are as follows:

    HDMI Audio - Bitstream out

    Optical Audio - Bitstream out

    Bitstream format - Dolby Digital

As a reference, I have HDMI from Xbox One > TV, then an optical out from TV to receiver. I hope this helps!
