I think the other way, I wish my PS4 accepted external. I couldn't care if it only had external and MS have made a good decision with the XB1 and USB. It is stinking hot where I live and everything over heats.

The PS4's internal hard drive can be swapped in about 10 minutes, they even have instructions on the website on how to do it. Why on earth would you want to use an external?

An external in a case will run much hotter than an internal without a case and fan in the console.

 

Because an external is Portable and should have the same functionality as X1 and be plugged into any other X1 with ease without upsetting another owners internal. Did you really not think of that ?

Actually no I didn't, I'm an adult. I don't go to my friends house after school to play games on their console, my friends all own their own games and we play at our own houses. And even if they didn't own the game the PS4 has SharePlay so they can play
mine from their house.....welcome to 2014.

 

Yeah so am I but I can copy my games to more than one external if I own more than one X1. I also travel and can plug my games into a friends Console. Share play isn't 1080p for the second player surely this is unacceptable for a PS4 gamer?

 

What's the resolution on games your sharing with the other console on the One? I can't seem to find it on mine.

As far as the portability goes.....haven't taken a game from my house to a friends in over 20 yrs, I have multiple last gen consoles (360 x3, PS3x2) and never moved a digital game from any of them to another. I simply downloaded it again.

Explain how this is relevant to storing games on external for future back up or install on another console, and still using the internal which as you said has the OS on it? You are making less sense.

 

The ability to swap the internal allows you to replace it with a 7200. Everything loads faster, not just games.

Most people that are using externals on the One are doing so to reduce load times rather than portability. At least in the US where the majority of us have uncapped fast internet connections the ability to back up or move digital games that we have access
to from MS is irrelevant, I don't back up my Steam games either.

I find it strange that many of you who are adults have such a difficult time admitting to the weaknesses of their particular platform of choice. I would hope that if I owned only one platform I would still see the usefulness of the other ones features that
I didn't have. This isn't personal, it's only a toy.

 

That's if you see it as a weakness. Most people I know who are using externals is to store already downloaded or installed games rather than Delete/restore them all the time. I have only spoke to a few that want to improve load times. I'm not bothered by
the load times on most games anyway. I'll defend the battery/controller situation also, not because it's a weakness but because I would rather play Wireless 100% of the time and not have a chord in my way ever. Using recharge batteries of my choosing is perfect
for me.

 

And just to point out if Ps4 had features that I honestly thought were good I would mention it or buy one. Still struggling to find one. And if I did I wouldn't ferl the need to discuss it here.

 

You lost me on the controller. Who has wired controllers?

External for people in countries with data caps or slow connections I understand completely. PS4 is lacking for those people.

 

Well in Australia we suffer from both. I have 200GB a month but I'd rather not reinstall 40gb games if I don't have to.

The controller on PS4 must be wired to ps4 or charged using a Dock. On X1 I can use my Dock or use my AAA recharge batteries without ever having to use the wire to the X1. When they die I buy new ones and swap out with ease. No unscrewing controllers to
change them out.

 

I buy a second controller and Nyko charging station for every console I own. It's a day one purchase for me. Only downside is my living room looks like Xmas year round with all the lights from those things.

 

I got external even I lived USA. Because I go to my dad's on satuerday's. It be easy for taking my digital games then redownloaded them on the one over there when I get one there. But Iplaning get KINECTless one at my dad's place. If I ever have plan used
KINECT. I take the KINECT I haved my place and bring it to his place.
