    Did someone charge my account for their gold membership?


    I don't know where else to post this, so I guess this is as good a place as any.

    Mods, if there is a better place for this topic, please move.

    I have only had a gold account for a couple of months, and decided that I cannot justify the expense for it right now, as I don't use it often enough.

    As a result, I turned off the "automatic renewal" last month so I am not charged without consenting.

    Then two days ago, out of the blue, I saw this charge on my credit card statement -

    "$9.99 purchase at MSFT *XBOX LIVE BILL.XBOX.COMWAUS on 09/10 12:03PM CT"

    Looking at my recent transactions, the last purchase I made was on 8/26/2014, the same day of the last "automatic renewal"

    Can someone please explain to me what exactly was I charged $9.99 for and why?

    Being able to play Xbox live without gold?

    It's called Gold family sharing, and it makes a ton of sense. MS grew a fucking brain and decided hey, maybe charging everyone in a household for Gold is a bad way to get more users online, lets make it so everyone on the same console can just use one Gold account instead.

  3. paid for gold but still can't play online

    I was charged twice for 2 different accounts. I renewed my kids gold membership on their accounts on the website tonight, my son was able to go online instantly, but my daughter's account still says that she needs to subscribe to gold. I looked at my checking
    account to verify that it processed the payment (which it did) and saw that I was already charged for the accounts on the 2nd and 4th. So now I have two $9.99 charges for each account showing on my checking account, but it shows my son only has 1 month paid
    for, and my daughter's still shows no subscription. I don't know why it even auto renewed the accounts on the 2nd and 4th because I have auto renew turned off, so the charges on the 2nd and 4th weren't even supposed to be processed to begin with.

    Right after I submitted the above post, I got this email (I had gone on my xbox account to check the status of billing, account, etc.)

    Hello f****** *****,

    Your Gold – 1 Month subscription is scheduled to be automatically renewed on Sunday, December 26, 9999. Please retain a copy of this message for your records. Here is a description of the service:.......

    For billng issues you need to phone support for your region as they are the only ones who can help you.

    Did you associate your card with a seperate account? Maybe to engage in a free trial. Because after a free trial they will charge your card directly after the trial. Although you won't know this for certain unless you ring them up on the phone and give them
    your full set of digits on your card and they can run a search to find all accounts linked to it.

    For USA/Canada call:

    1-800-4MY-XBOX or

    425-635-7180

    For UK call:

    0800 587 1102

    Please note that when the expiry year says "9999" that means that for as long as the account is set to auto renew it will show an unlimited expiry. If you are certain that the auto renewal was turned off just give them a call just to confirm to prevent this
    happening in the future and to try get a resolution to the charge on your card.

    Same here. Worst part is everything was working fine until someone in billing charged my account for a Live Gold membership I had already paid for through a prepaid card. They agreed that I shouldn't have been billed,removed the charge - but in the process
    somehow cancelled my prepaid membership! So they gave me a new code to reactivate my Gold membership,but now my account is locked,can't redeem codes,make purchases,nothing. Weeks later and hours on the phone,and they still can't figure out what they did to
