    Did i ruin my Xbox? Plugged it into surge protector.


    hey everyone

    I bought the one s a week ago been working great its just i found out ur not soposed to use instant on mode while plugging in your Xbox into a surge protector it needs to be plugged into the wall direct because it has build in surge.

    I didnt know this ive been using it all this time on surge protector did i just ruin it?

    I would say that it's not. Do you have the console plugged into a surge protector? If you do unplug it from the surge protector and plug it straight into a wall outlet. It doesn't need to be plugged into a surge protector because it already has one built
    in with the internal power supply.

    Surge protector

    I have also had my Xbox One plugged into a surge protector for a long time.

    From my experience, I'd say keep it plugged in for extra safety. I've never had any problems with my Xbox One being plugged into a surge protector.

    lol alright i Just found out a new issue when i was rly close to my console just now mind you i have instant on off i did use the controller to shut it down so its not a full shut down but i can hear static clicks when im rly close to it and its not even
    on instant on it is on standby tho since a full shut down i dont hear these hmm i know its off topic but do you know anything about this if its normal?

    The console has a built in surge protector so you should never plug it into another surge protector at all,no matter what power mode your console is set to.

    Your console will still make a noise for a bit after you turn it off as it's saving your data to the cloud.

    Surge protector with the Xbox Series X

    I've never had any problems with my Xbox One X while it's plugged into an external surge protector and I got my Xbox Series X on release day and it's plugged into an external surge protector as well and I've had no problems with that either.

    I would rather an external surge protector die doing its job than the surge protector dying in the console as you'd have no working console when there was a power surge without an external surge protector as the first line of defence.

    I found the solution!

    I had my Xbox 360 plugged into a surge protector. The Xbox's power cord already has a protector built in. If you plug it into another surge protector, it reduces power to the Xbox. I tried plugging the Xbox directly into an outlet and the framerate is a
    lot better.
