    Did I purchase the wrong Minecraft??


    I decided to finally purchase my own account for minecraft rather than borrowing friends very occasionally.

    The website took me to Minecraft for Windows 10 game, which I assumed was what i wanted as I have windows 10, however, I don't want that version, I want the original 'download and play' version, which I assume is the Java one. But now its asking me for my credit
    card, despite having just purchased the Win10 version. I'm really confused now...did I just waste $40???

    Do you live in the US? Not sure how it works there or if there are region locks for that game. But in Europe games often times have Spanish, German, English and French localization all in one.


    I think it should say on the back what the options are though.

    I bought Minecraft on computer through browser Microsoft store. It won't let me install on my computer since it says that there is no applicable devices.

    May I know what version of Minecraft did you purchase? Was it Minecraft for Windows? Would you please share a screenshot of it?

    I ask because maybe you purchased the wrong version (Minecraft) which is not compatible with a computer.

    Did you buy "Minecraft Master Collection" or "Minecraft for Windows 10 Master Collection"? The first is only for the console. You would need to purchase the Window 10 edition to play it on PC.

    If you purchased the wrong version, you'll want to submit a refund request and then purchase the correct version.

    Hey, just wanted to say thank you so much for the help, and a big apology, I've had Minecraft for Windows 10 on 2 different Microsoft accounts, I was using the wrong one but didn't notice since I had Minecraft with the ultimate subscription anyway, so upon it cancelling, I believed that it was indeed the account I had previously purchased the game on. It does work now and I'm so sorry, however, the issue still persists with the Minecraft launcher but I did see something about it being a known issue with the Minecraft launcher (Java Edition). When I did try the support page for Xbox Support It said "Something went wrong on our end. We’re working on it."
