Did I get "cheated" out of a Forza achievement?

After playing Forza Motorsport 6 last night, I noticed that one of the achievements listed was for owning the cover car the Ford GT. As most of us know Microsoft gifted this car to all that played the demo. When I went through my cars it was listed
as FREE however as I claimed it no achievement was unlocked. Do you only get the achievement if you purchase it in game? Anyone else noticed this or am did I miss something?

well Mainly so Peddler could feel cheated cause Guardians of Middle-earth doesn't have a push start. Also Joy Ride Turbo has Press A to start.

I did feel cheated when 4 players lagged out and I got there 1000 gp each ( and beat AKA).........NOT!

Yes you need to buy it in game to unlock the achievement

 

That's odd. Why would anyone buy it if it has been gifted to them?

 

Not everyone would have played the demo or will play the demo.

 

I did not play the demo and the car was gifted to me.

 

Either way,you need to actually buy the car to unlock the achievement.It's only about 250,000 credits so it's not that expensive.

The achievement list was finalised long before the demo/free car thing was announced so that's why you need to buy it.

 

And you can get half back if you sell it

 

Weird thing is Both myself and a friend both played the demo. Last night we were both playing the main game and were discussing this very thing.

In my game the car was not in my garage after accepting the gift in the messages.

In my friends game the GT was in his garage.

I went and bought the car for 250,000 achievement unlocked

He still didnt have the cheevo but had the car, he had to buy it again anyway to get the cheevo, but like Pkvas said he can sell his for half price. No biggy though it was cheap enough.

 

This is clearly a SLAP IN THE FACE to any one intelligent. Why would anyone buy a car they already had for an achievement?

 

I bought extra cars for a Just Cause 2 trophy, It was either scan the map for hours or pay $4, it was platinum. In Forza 6 I'm sure it would be Forza Money though.

 

Goth to clarify when I say buy, it was in game currency not real money.
