  1. Did I bend my One's fan blades?

was cleaning my xbox one and using a toothpick to hold the fan in place while i cleaned with airduster and a couple of times i slipped with my toothpick and pushed down on one of the fan blades a little bit. is it possible that i may have bent one of the
blades slightly? im scared to turn it on now cause i dont want my fan to be off balance but it doesnt look any different i did hear a little noise bu im almost certain it was the toothpick sliding across the fan blade and not the fan moving at all. at least
i hope. am i being too paranoid?

    :)

  2. Sent 2013 Day One controller under warranty I got back a normal controller back.

My day one controller had a bent prong in the battery pack, but just did my best to bend it it back into place on my own. Hopefully it holds up

Xbox One producing weird oily liquid?

    Hi CynicalAnarchy,

From my experiences with PC building and Xbox One knowledge, I can conclude that this is not a problem. The liquid you are seeing is Fan Lubricant. Fans leaking oil Lubricant are not rare most computers at some point have fans leaking Lubricant. During the
manufacturing of computer fans, the bearing (the center there the motor is) is applied with oil Lubricant. Some fan manufactures put too much Lubricant resulting in some leaking after time.

Here is what happened: Oil Lubricant was released from the Xbox One's fan, since the Xbox One's fan blows out air instead of blow in, the oil from the bearing's will be blown out to the top of the Xbox One causing what you currently see on your Xbox One.

Don't worry, this might sound all scary, but don't fear. Fan Lubricant is non conductive, it will not harm your Xbox One's motherboard or any internal components.

If you have any questions, feel free to rely.

    Best regards, bloodygunner17

Did I bend my One's fan blades?

    Hi

Hopefully you have not caused any damage to the console, all you can do is power the console on and see what happens.

  5. If you turn on your Xbox One and it blows up it is damaged.

You need to go back to school if youre not still in school. you should only clean with a micro fibre cloth, not vacuum on a setting which is not the low suction power setting and stick things internally in your console. if in doubt ask your parents or hire
a professional cleaner who knows what theyre doing.

  7. i didn't use a vacuum cleaner, i used compressed air (air duster)

im just wondering if a small amount of pressure could bend one if the plastic fan blades and cause imbalance in the fan?

Compressed air is worse than a vacuum cleaner.

  9. as in the canned air stuff?

either way i booted it up no problem and have been playing for a couple hours. the fan sounds the same as it always did and its not making any loud or grinding noises so im pretty sure its okay. just never going to clean it that way again

Regarding the canned air, it can result in condensation wihtin the console, that's why it is worse then a vacuum cleaner.

But since the console seems to be performing fine at the moment, I don't think you'll have to worry.

Huh? Who meticulously cleans their console out of habit? Unless I'm sorely mistaken, these hi-tech gadgets CLEAN THEMSELVES - well, apart from internal fragmentation which needs regular maintenance through power cycling. Perhaps I missed the memo, but in
all my years of 'meticulously' looking after my console(s), I do admittedly keep them free of dust and grime (specifically the controller, which I routinely wipe clean with a damp sponge).

Smileskybird, microfiber works best on a glass screen or monitor, so I wouldn't advise running it over a heat-generating device. A question to the OP: where are these blades of which you speak? How do you "bend blades" without physically taking apart
the console? A question to smileskybird: They hire out "professional cleaners" to clean your consoles nowadays? I did not know this!

  12. the blades for the system fan in the xbox one S, i was just wondering if a little bit of pressure from a toothpick could harm the fan at all. only reason it freaked me out so bad is that i heard a noise when the toothpick pushed down on one of the blades
but after replicating the scenario with an old cpu fan, its just the sound of the wooden toothpick sliding down the plastic and making a small "grinding" kind of sound. just surface friction i think. wouldn't the fan make some gawd-awful noise if one of the
blades were to snap or crack a bit? probably sound really wobbly right?

either way its still as quiet as it's ever been so more reason for me to believe it was the toothpick making the sound and not the fan itself.

  13. Did I bend my One's fan blades?

As someone who used to work in a service center for electronic devices and both serviced & cleaned them regularly, I can tell you a few things.

First, it is true that compressed air (yes, even canned air that isn't supposed to contain any type of moisture) can cause more problems than it solves if sprayed into the wrong areas... condensation being one, but not the only one. Next, in all my time
of taking apart all kinds of devices both low end and high end... I have never, ever, seen or heard of a device capable of cleaning itself. Unless someone has found a way to micro-size a Roomba, that simply is not so. It's true that devices like ink jet printers
have built in cleaning systems for the jets, however that is a far cry from a printer being able to clean itself.

Most devices simply rely on solid engineering and design, that promotes air flow in a way that provides the best compromise of allowing cooling air to cycle through while directing it in a fashion that minimizes dust and particles getting caught up in or
    around components.

My cleaning tips. DON'T use a toothpick... ever. If you live in a really dusty area, then I might... might use a vacuum cleaner to lightly go over vents, but not something that will suck marbles from a foot off the floor powerful. Also, avoid using brush
attachments. They can get caught up in vents and cause trouble. If you don't live in a really dusty area, just use a very slightly damp, soft, lint free cloth on the outside and you should be fine.

My bad. If I had my time over or could *correct* the post, I would've said that hi-tech gadgets these days MAINTAIN THEMSELVES - especially consoles - and in all my time of owning and loving consoles, I have never, ever, seen or heard of a console that didn't
perform "as is" when you leave it be. If it ain't broke, don't attempt to fix it!
