    when i put new games in they often fail to register or start working, if i put and old game in it takes several attempts and sometimes i have to reinstall the game, is this a known problem?

    Xbox drive issue - games are dvd's (not the normal issue)

    i also tried hooking up a hard drive and updating via xbox live and it updates ... no dice

    Ive got the exact same problem with FIFA 16. Have the hard copy in the drive and still no dice

    Sounds like your disc drive could be on it's way out.Same thing happened to mine & i had to send it off to be repaired.
