Diablo III Eternal Collection for Xbox One X...major OOPS. Can it be fixed? Please say yes,...

Ho and thank you for answering. My question is about Diablo III Eternal Collection running on the Xbox One X console. I have a character, ONE character, that I have been playing for 5-6 years. Lvl 70, Paragon LVL 1098, hundreds of hours invested in it. Somehow,
and I am still not sure how, I managed to delete the local save of the character from my personal Xbox One X console yesterday. I didn't get any sort of crazy warning like "Do you wanna really do this???", it was more like "Confirm Delete" and I THOUGHT I
was deleting something else, not the only character I have ever played. I started asking various places for advice as to whether it is truly gone or not (some said yes, some said maybe, some said maybe not). My best piece of advice came from MS Tech Support
via phone and I was told that there is a copy of that character stored in the MS Cloud and if I went to a friend's place who also had Diablo 3 and signed in with my Gamertag, I could use the Import Save option from the Diablo Start screen to download my character
from the MS Cloud then save it again locally, export that save, then go home, run the game on my Xbox One and use Import Save get my character back onto my Xbox One X. I can see how this might be possible & I can see that it might also not be possible. So,
I am asking all of you...it appears I deleted the local save on my Xbox One X of a Diablo 3 Eternal Collection character that I would really, really love to have back. Does anyone know of a way I can get that character restored to my Xbox One X? Would removing
Diablo 3 EC from my Xbox One X then reinstalling it and trying Import Save that way work? I am a little worked up on this. I just lost a character that has hundreds of hours built into it. I'll take any advice at all at this point. Thanks for any help!
