    Internet Question

Oh sorry... Limit your IP Range & Use MAC Address Filtering & turn DHCP Server off..

In Router LAN IP Menu, Under DHCP Reservation Lease Info..

Type your XBOX 360 IP Address from chosen IP Range & type the XBOX 360s MAC Address..

[You can use the IP settings on your XBOX for chosen IP Range & Remember to put your computer IP Address in the IP Range First...]

[Your XBOX MAC Address should come up on your router, as a connected device... So make sure, your XBOX is Turned on Or look at you DHCP Leases & it will tell you the IP & MAC Addresses of your connected Devices]

    ..

Your sisters IP Address & MAC Address, won't be able to access your router now etc..

Xbox live disconnecting and reconnecting (3rd time)

@HoveringPath94 - The DCHP server is actually a protocol that make things a bit easier for a device on your network to dynamically learn an IP address along with the corresponding subnet mask, the IP address of your gateway (router), and the IP address of
a DNS server. The DHCP server leases out IP addresses from its pool of addresses. These addresses can be dynamically learned by your Xbox, Smartphone, PC, Mac, or any device that request an IP address from the DHCP server.

DHCP reservation will reserve an address from the DHCP's pool of addresses, so that the server will ignore this specific address to be leased if another device comes along and try to make a claim to this address.

If your router support DHCP reservation, there's a list of connected devices that the DHCP knows about. These are listed as names for each device (XML/UPnP) with its corrensponding MAC address.

You can type in any IP address as your reserved address, but it has to be unique, meaning, this address can't be in use by another device on your local network. And it has to be an address within the DHCP servers pool of addresses.

When you're done, the DHCP server will assign your console with the configured address and reserve this for as long as until you manually remove this configuration.

Xbox gives DCHP error with ethernet cable

    Hi,

The 'DHCP server' is part of your router or internal network you're attempting to connect to, nothing to do with the Internet or Xbox Live. The normal process when you turn on your console (or any WIFI device for that matter) is that it connects to
the router and, in a manner of speaking, asks the router for a unique internal IP address to connect to the local network and thus, the Internet.

This network access request is handled by the router's DHCP (or Dynamic Host Control Protocol). It's called a 'server' because in large networks a dedicated machine may be assigned to handle the issuing of network IP addresses, hence the confusing
name. Many people get confused with DHCP and assume it's something outside of their own network.

Most of the time this process works automatically. Sometimes however, DHCP has a conflict and tries to assign an IP address in its range to a device, that is already being used by another device. Each device (and when I say 'device', I mean anything that
can connect to your network wired or wirelessly) needs it's own unique IP address. If, for what ever reason, your console can't connect to the network due to an internal IP conflict, the usual error is a DHCP one.

If you're sharing an Internet connection with multiple people - like in college or university dorm - you may need to contact the network admin for more help. DHCP is a networking error, it's not a console error.

    Hope that makes sense.

Don't think the DHCP service is running on router/L3 on a campus network. It would make more sense if it were running its services on AD server, or a Linux machine. Also, in campus or enterprise networks, it is very common that the DHCP server resides within
customers DC. Client machines that sends out a DHCP DISCOVERY for a DHCP server need to have an IP helper that could translate broadcast into unicast, since routers do not flood broadcasts.

Unable to connect iMediashare to Xbox 360

Try using a Wireless N Router on your modem & Linking your iPhone & 360 through the router... Make sure WMM is enabled on the iPhone..

You can also connect to Live, through the router via modem connected too.. [Wifi or Ethernet]

Just add the MAC Addresses of your 360 & iPhone to the router, then assign IP Addresses to each Device...

If DHCP Server is active on the router [Under LAN IP], the IP Addresses are assigned automatically & will show the Assigned IPs on each device...

The router will also show the MAC Addresses when connected to the router & all you have to is add them to the DHCP Reservation List, so the leases are extended &/or end up being Static IPs etc..
