DHCP problem

Please provide us with some more information about your problem. Like which router you use, which settings on your router / xbox one etc. If you get any error codes please post them, too.

Also I have tried plugging it straight into the router but I get the same issue

Hello Solssldo, DHCP is a service within your modem/router that automatically provides IP addresses to your internal network.

If something is happening that Xbox sends some message or can't connect properly is because something on the modem/router isn't correct, it could be some service failure, firmware update, something on the equipment etc.

If you can and have access, try first restart do a reset on your modem, if possible and have access to the settings, check if it does not require any firmware upgrade, if the problem continues will have to ask for help from your ISP.

It's essentially an IP address conflict (DHCP conflict). Some other device on your home WIFI network has an IP address that your Xbox wants to use or is already assigned. It's not an issue with your console, your network is causing the problem.

How to fix it depends on your router. You can google your router model number for a guide to fix it, or if you're not feeling tech savvy enough, I would advise you call your ISP for them to fix it. They should be able to do this within a few minutes over the phone.
