Devices page doesn't recognize serial number

It says "We didn't recognize this serial number" and I got the number from behind the battery and from the box the controller came in

No I didn't, and now a cannot:

"We didn't recognize this serial number

Please check your serial number, then try entering it again. If you need help, go to the support page for your device"

I'm aware of what that support page says. I've tried registering the console with Microsoft in the my Devices, but as I posted above, the site claims it doesn't recognize the serial number.

You state that your knowledge is only based on that linked article and you can't try registering the serial number yourself.

I think the information on that page is stale.

Thanks for the reply but it requires Surface, Xbox, or Accessory serial number since there's no option for PC Serial Number.

It does not recognize my pc serial number but it needs Surfare , Xbox or Accessory serial number
im trying to add my pc to the device
