  1. Development team won't give us what we want

The Xbox One consoles that get frequent updates are in preview program. Those users are testing out a number of things and reporting the bugs they run into. Some bugs get fixed quickly, others can take time due to the complexity of the coding. With how everything
integrates together these days, nothing is simple change any more.

The majority of Xbox One consoles do not get frequent updates, they receive updates a few times a year.

Would you prefer Microsoft's developers be like some other companies that do not listen to any user feedback and bugs that get reported never get fixed even after final release? Or consoles that get silently discontinued and fade out of existence?

As for your comments about the Xbox 360 and changes not being done - How long should a company support old equipment? The 360 was released in 2005 and discontinued 10 years later. For game consoles that's unheard of to be manufactured for that long,
let alone continue to sell well enough to justify its continued manufacturing for that many years. Even the original Xbox console and original Live servers didn't last that long.

The 360 is still supported in the fact that 360 users can still play their games and do their online multiplayer with those same games. They now have the ability, through backward compatibility to do it on the newest console generation as well.
Heck you want to play an OG Xbox title, guess what, the latest console will play some games from 2 console generations ago.

Why, you may ask? Because the developers listened to what the majority of users wanted.

Here's the thing, when it comes to technology, companies can't just go from point A to point B overnight. They need to do it in smaller increments often over several generations since the vast majority of users don't take change well. The dashboard
updates done with the 360 were stepping stones to get to the current Xbox One dashboard.

As Smwutches mentioned - People that are happy, don't speak up. They are the silent majority. These are the users that keep buying/supporting the product/services companies provide and providing feedback through proper channels that can yield tangible
    results.

People speak up for 2 reasons - they are wowed by something and want to share that experience or they are disgruntled and want to vent. These users are the vocal minority. Since it's becoming more and more difficult to wow someone, most of what
    is shared are complaints.

  2. I agree with most of what you said, but I believe there are still millions of people on the 360. If not, then probably hundreds of thousands, and that number is slowly decreasing because most people are moving on to the Xbox One. Considering that there's
still a large number of people on the 360, why not surprise them with an update? Give them something to enjoy, take them several years back to the past. There are no more improvements to be made on the Xbox 360, so the best thing to do now is to change the
dashboard back to something everyone loved. Does that sound good?

  3. That could be difficult because they might try to fit some new features into whatever dashboard from the old ones they're going to work on. It's basically going to be redesigning the dashboard with the features we have now, and maybe some features are unwanted
by users. I believe it will take a while.

The 360 is done & dusted. It;s last gen & wont be getting any more updates.

Why waste resources on the last gen when they can be used on this generation of consoles?

Trust me,the majority of what we've got on the xbox one is down to user feedback.Say what you want about Microsoft but they are good at listening to user feedback & adding those things if possible.

The xbox one dash is much better than it was & that's mostly down to user feedback.

We certainly don't get updates every month on the xbox one.Only time I get a lot of updates is when we are testing new updates in the Insider program.

Personally I don't use my console to just play with the dash,i play games or use apps which is very easy & quick to do with the current dash.

  5. So what you're telling me here that the Xbox 360 will never get any more updates and resources are being wasted if they make a new update for it? That doesn't make any sense to me. You're not wasting resources when you update an older console, if you're
wasting something then it's probably time and nothing else. And about the updates on the Xbox One, it's still being updated frequently, that's what I heard. If the Xbox 360 servers are still active, they can't just leave us like that. They might as well shut
the servers down if they won't do anything.

  6. And who are you to make that decision? Are you a developer?

  7. Yes, consoles, like all software and electronics have a life cycle. Once a device reaches the end of it's life cycle support ends. Microsoft at least told users when they would stop manufacturing the console, especially after it exceeded it's life cycle.
Sony no longer sells or updates the PS3. The Wii and Wii U are no longer around, replaced by the Switch. Why? They are all last gen consoles that reached the end of their life cycle. Those were all quietly faded out without most users realizing it.

Developers get paid to do the work they do. Their time is money. If the project they are working on doesn't generate revenue, the funding for their time dries up. When you enter the workforce and learn how businesses are run, you will better understand
    this.

Yes, those consoles in the preview program get updated regularly to test out new code/features. Otherwise the consoles get an update a few times a year. No more than the 360 did during it's life cycle.

The servers are still active because of backward compatibility. More and more users are playing their 360 games from their Xbox One consoles. Both consoles access the exact same game servers allowing users to interact together. Back in the day I played Halo
2 on my 360 and was able to interact with my friend playing it on his OG Xbox.

As Daft mentioned - the 360 is done. It exceeded it's life cycle.

The developers did give the users what they wanted - the ability for users to continue to play their 360 games on their next gen consoles.

Any further feedback/suggestions on this topic are better posted on the feedback site:

I understand. I have already posted this on the Uservoice page and I currently have 17 votes. What happens when I get 1000 votes or more (Which most likely will not happen)?

Absolutely nothing happens. Suggestions are not a mandate to implement something no matter how many people vote for it. There is a post on the feedback site saying Xbox Live should be free. I don't see that happening no matter how many votes it gets, which
is over 8K at the moment.

  11. Because Xbox LIVE is probably the thing that Microsoft get the most money from.

I do see some positive feedback, but you're always going to see more negative feedback online than positive. People are most likely to comment on something when they're unhappy than when they're not.

I've seen the complaints. It's definitely not the majority of users that are issuing them. Yes, it is a large number, but when you have almost 50 million users, several thousand is not the majority.
But how often do you see positive feedback? Is it more than negative feedback?
