^^ Well if they have time to make skins, why can't they give them to people who bought the game new sort of like D4 did? I don't think they check games for bugs as well as they used to. Look at AC Unity. There were so many bad bugs it was frightening. That
time could have been left for testing.

  2. Day one content always feels cheap, to me, as if it's been held back on purpose. I can usually stomach it as long as the base content is deep, but when I look at games like Destiny, it's easy to see what they did in trimming the content, replacing it with
busy work, so it looks deeper than it is.

  3. AC Unity wasn't that bad. I thought my gameplay was pretty solid and the new stuff they added (or bought back) was pretty well done. Of course there were times I thought.. no double assassination?! Even though I was right on their ***. It wasn't gamebreaking
    though. I loved the game.

As for all this day 1 content, the cosmetic stuff is always silly to me. I wish you could unlock through progression while you level up or whatever. But if people wanna pimp out their character and spend a little more cash, to each their own. As for charging
for actual content, I only have a problem with it when it was content that should have been originally with the game but they release it later and charge for it. Destiny is a great example. A lot of games do these nowadays. It's common practice. I truly dislike
day 1 season passes because that's just subtracted content from the vanilla game. I'll rarely buy dlc unless I really love the game and it's ehrmeged.

It would be great if they offered them for free to people who bought the game new brandiesel1, but I don't begrudge a company making some money out of something that it purely cosmetic.

Removing a character so tied to the lore of a game universe to make him day one DLC is something I object to.

The problem here is though the content wasn't some side project for artists still on the payroll, waiting for the game's Gold status. The game was designed as a vessel for selling "modular" content. The devs claim its design is to allow for "reactive" content.
Reactive... as in responding to consumer/community feedback. It's not "proactive" content that they're just gonna make regardless of demand. (゜-゜)

Well, no. The day one stuff and beyond here, it IS proactive content. They marked content that was developed alongside the base game content as separate content, carved up it up, put arbitrary price tags on it all - despite the top dollar RRP on the base
game - and if it sells, well great, they'll make more later. It's so easy to deliver now... ~adjusts tie and tests neck to see if sheep or shark~

They should have done a regular game. Imagine it! With all the content, and offered content in-game as unlocks, and offered further content at specific times online, and maybe offer some on XP bonus weekends and stuff. Then asked, "Hey, would you guys who
bought our 'totally not proactive content delivery system' be interested in more of this? If so what have you liked so far in the unlocksl? What would you like next? You see... we're being ||reactive|| here." lol

It's the most proactive development of unwanted by consumers at launch, nothing-content, possibly ever. ( -_-)

I stayed away from evolve for a multitude of reasons. I don't see this game having great replay value. And this just adds to it.

    The game is excellent.

You are missing out on a great new game.

You're not missing out on being ripped of through purchasing extra skins at least though.

But you're certainly missing out on one of the better new games this gen has to offer. It looks good, has great controls and a lot more depth than you'd think at first glance.

I'm not a fan of any DLC that you have to pay for, but day one DLC is just wrong. I think LostKauz hit the nail on the head, this is content that is ready at release date, but they are holding it back in order to charge more for it.

It doesn't really matter how it's sugar coated, in my opinion it's completely wrong, but seems to be happening more and more.

The only type of DLC I can kind of understand is:

As an example - The Lost and Damned, or The Ballad of Gay Tony for GTA 4. The reason I can understand this is the fact that it is something that was clearly created as an add on long after release, and it actually adds hours of new gameplay. If however these
were available on day 1, then I would feel exactly the same, they should be available on the disc at no extra cost.

Regardless, I don't like the idea of any paid DLC at all... gaming is expensive enough, without games totalling ridiculous prices by the time you've paid for everything and all the add-ons. I agree with what people have already said, whatever happened to
completing the game or certain challenges to unlock bonus material?

It's a trend that is only going to get worse. Sad times!

  9. I basically feel the same way as ShowbizMonkey. I'm all for playing some DLC later on, like the Rockstar stuff he mentioned (or Skyrim's stuff). In fact, Rockstar seems to have an ideal formula, in my opinion. They trickle out all kinds of small clothing
and weapon and car packs, all at no cost, other than the in-game money. I feel like they reward players who buy the game, and then at some point if they offer a large paid expansion, it never seems like a cash grab.

I'm sure it's a great game for those who like this style of play. But without the draw of single player story content, I can never justify paying full price for something that, for me anyway, will get repetitive in a hurry.

    Oh it's worth mentioning...

The DLC that actually affects GAMEPLAY...

    That's the new maps...

    You get that for FREE.

^^ I did mention that and it's great, but it still doesn't take away the fact that they cut out bits to sell us at launch.

And I'm sure they do recheck, after all otherwise we would not have day one patches.

Just what is the art department meant to be doing during the time from gold to release? If they can make up skins then why shouldn't they do that with their time. This is purely cosmetic content made by people who otherwise would have very little to do.

Content I am against is the stuff like From Ashes for Mass Effect 3. Javik we know was in the game's script from the start, he was cut to make a DLC character.

Like someone else said in a different thread this game was DOA, out of the 5 friends I have on XB1 and the 20 on ps4, not a single person owns this game, now I know this is just my friends list, but if you extrapolate amongst the 30 some million console
owners, it seems like the game will sell poorly, if you where to just look at your own friends list and see how many people are playing it.
