Developer Mode and Backwards Compatibility

Hello guys.

I don`t know if this is the right place to post, but here we go:

1- The Xbox One Developer Mode runs only debug games (unsigned code) and not retail games?

2- Does the Xbox One uses the **** executable format (like 360)?

3- Since Xbox One has backwards compatibility through emulating the Xbox360, does XB1 runs unsigned **** files in Developer Mode?

I am asking these questions, because i have a Custom Game Engine which develops 3D games for Xbox 360 (homebrew), it outputs a file default.****, which is unsigned, and only runs on a Xbox360 Devkit, and
i would like to play my homebrew xbox360 game on xbox one.

Supposing that with developer mode xb1 can run unsigned code, i imagine that it could run also unsigned **** files from Xbox360.

COD BO1 on Xbox one with backwards compatibility

Hi, there has been no news yet on when Black Ops 1 will be available on the backward compatibility. To find out when it will be available, it's best to ask the developer (Treyarch) or the publisher (Activision). You can also find more info on Backward

That title for Xbox 360 is not backwards compatible you can view a detailed list at

I understand your frustration however you can always reach out to the game developer to ask them to do so. It never hurts to ask

While it is true that backwards compat is on hold. Every backwards compat licensing has to approved by the developer for that game to approve the ability of backwards compatibility. There are some developers unfortunately that will not allow there games
to be backwards compatible .

You can contact the developer of the games and see if they will allow it to be made backward compatible.

The developer needs to give permission for Xbox to work on the backward compatible side of the game.

Some games might never come to backward compatible due to developers not existing anymore.

Hello Memphis,

There are a lot of factors that come into play when making a game backward compatible. The main one is the developers allowing it to become backward compatible. So if the developer is not around any longer or has changed names or merged it is hard to get
the game backward compatible. You may message the developer of the game and let them know that you want it to become backward compatible.

Sorry to disappoint but the Backwards Compatibility team is currently on hold for development of the Xbox Series X. Ultimately the ability of the game to be backwards compatible with Xbox One and series X fall to the publisher or developer. I suggest reaching
out whatever developer or company that holds the rights to the game so that if the backwards compatibility program resumes, then it can be put into consideration.
