Confirmed, Genchy is killing Deus Ex's reputation single handedly on the Xbox forums!

It's pretty safe to say that if you didn't like Human Revolution you won't like this, I've pretty much been saying the opposite that if you liked HR than there's a high chance you'll like mankind divided so.

Great info!!! Now I want to go back and play through the first 2 games again. That will have to wait though as Deus Ex comes out tomorrow.

No double takedowns in MD either and the takedown animations are not varied enough, I went through a whole area last night and every single takedown was the same....

 

Genchy, double takedowns must be 'applied' via augments. I've performed a few but it's nevertheless jarring because takedown and melee animations are canned - kinda kills the flow of combat if you're the aggressive type. I picked up the latest edition of
OXM today, and they've rated it 9/10. That's about what I expected, but the Metacritic average falls well below Human Revolution...

Understandable, because that game sort of rebirthed the franchise and - boss fights aside - was a clear winner. Also, the OXM review references a couple of boss battles, but after a full week of play, I've yet to encounter any! Guess I'm taking my time with
it (unless I've talked my way out of trouble ).

Yea agreed about the boss battles I haven't come across one yet and just returned to Prague after the GARM facility.

To be honest I didn't find the boss battles too bad in HR apart from the tank guy with the grenades he was a pain. I will play the Directors Cut at some point as I believe you can ghost them in that.

 

It's called a Reflex Booster and requires 2 Praxis points to install (IIRC). The description also says "multiple takedowns", although I've been working my way through the game Sam Fisher style, using cloaks and knockouts without drawing attention - so keeping
things intimate.

What's this GARM facility, then? Haven't heard of it - yet - so just goes to prove there's depth to be found if you're not racing to the finish line. One of my side missions has glitched... an NPC either died or left his store early in the game, and it looks
as though it will remain incomplete until I've time for a NG+. Shame really, as I generally don't replay games unless I'm maxing out the achievements (case in point: Fallout 4, which is next up for me)!

 

Ok cool good intel, thanks must have missed it when I was searching! Which is the side quest that glitched Ive done all the Prague ones before you leave it for the second time so might be able to help, unless you know for sure that its deffo glitched t.

 

I also think I realise why I haven't been as involved as HR I think they have spent too much investment in side quest missions which take you away from the main story I wont give a spoiler but last nigh after coming back to Prague I was very surprised by
a story development and felt a tweak of interest. Thing is the game forces you to do the sides otherwise you lose them when you leave Prague for the second time. So far I feel the main story has been playing second fiddle to the side missions. Plus there
is a distinct lack of interesting facilities/building with decent anti intruder tech to bypass. In HR I was using the full range of my chosen augs depending on the obstacle so in MD its mainly the odd camera and not much else so far.

Genchy, I very much doubt that you (or I) can fix my glitched quest. I actually deleted and reinstalled the game, hoping that whatever coordinates were assigned to my quest giver would be reset, and Edward Whoever would still be there (note: it's the fake
passport mission) but his sister is the only one I could help. I've already stated the world is "persistent", so therefore the onus is on me for not reloading an earlier autosave and fixing this myself.

You're right about the 'sort order' of missions though, as Mankind Divided's Narrative Director [Mary DeMarle], confirmed as much in the latest issue of Edge Magazine #297:

"We had a team that was devoted to sidequests, and we had the critical path team working on the main story. Then we had some people who are devoted to the living world, and filling that in. And someone devoted to environmental storytelling. Sometimes someone
would steal somebody else's apartment for their story, and we had to move things around."

At the end of the day, no matter what you or I or anybody else might think about the Deus Ex seal of approval (not naming and shaming, but there are peeps who have replied in this thread that HAVEN'T even played Human Revolution, so their frames of reference
or dismissal are wholly invalid), this game is deep and inviting. It's a certified triple-A without question, and that's why I'm milking it. I left Mirror's Edge Catalyst on the vine, and Fallout 4 begs to be completed, but honestly, when you're playing to
"win", there can never be losers.

Unless of course you've banked 17 hours on easy mode and received the default ending. #thatsgottahurt

 

If anyone is playing and gets to the point where the game tells you that if you leave Prague then any open side quests will be lost and you still have the Sariff Augs side quest sat there open don't worry it will not be lost. Sariff doesn't contact you
until you arrive back. Ive seen a few people elsewhere who thought this was glitched because he hadn't called back and the game stating it would be lost, it isn't and wont be.

 

Thanks for the heads up Genchy, and I like how you're appealing to "anyone" who is still playing, however given that it's only the *two* of us updating the thread, I guess you're preaching to the choir lol.

That'd be M12: The Heist you're referring to - and obviously a fork in the road. As soon as I saw the warning, I immediately backtracked, because according to my history log I'd missed three (or four) side missions! As much as I hate spoiling my own progress,
I simply *had* to poke my nose in @XboxAchievements.com, and this highlighted the absent missions. Unfortunately, it looks as though I've missed one during my trip to Golem City... so there goes the neighborhood.

It appears the game has been designed for at least *two* playthroughs as M11 is where you've got to choose between the bank heist and saving Allison Stanek. Absolutely hate seeing strikes on my permanent record, but at least there's some good news! The very
FIRST side mission which I thought was glitched [SM01: The Golden Ticket] was in fact finishable! Yaaay! It turns out the store owner had always been there... I was just looking for him in the WRONG STORE! -_-

Also, when checking my progress thus far, I'm only 62% complete after 39 HOURS! Other interesting stats uncovered were my hacking challenges to date (514), takedowns (236), total credits (69430), and total XP (194620). Am *so* glad I went chasing up those
missions - because SM06 [01011000] was probably the GEEKIEST and GREATEST in the game! There's even a callout to Portal while you're investigating (hint: it's in the basement .

What?! They're giving us MORE reasons to play when the game is already a MONSTER? And releasing it on the 23rd, just as (some of us) might wanna move on to other games - like (cough) Forza Horizon 3 - is downright cruel! Might just wait until I've time for
the season pass... but that ain't anytime soon!
