    Hey y'all!

Can a specialist break down every term and why it is very important for the Xbox One?

    • Packet loss
    • Download Speed
    • MTU
    • Latency
    • Bandwidth
It would be great if someone would break down every term and explain why it is important in regards to the Xbox. I think the community would definitely benefit from the answers. I hope to see some great responses. Detail Specific Question - Tell me about these terms. :)

    Suspension Information Required

Yes, I've been there and read the detail listed but it gives nothing in terms of specific information I wanted to make sure I was speaking from a position of knowledge about why the account was suspended and when it was suspended. Why did Microsoft advise
me to come here for the specific reason that they couldn't advise but they said I would get further information here. All pretty frustrating as a parent and having no knowledge of these things

Hey fufufuwie! Good question, I'd be happy to break it down for you.

    • Packet loss refers to when packets of data fail to reach you. This can result in latency issues as well as loss of data which can cause corruption in downloads (that's why even 1% packet loss is never good).
    • Download speed is exactly as it sounds, the speed in which your console downloads data. All online aspects require a solid download speed in order to continue sending your console information.
    • MTU stands for maximum transmission unit. MTU basically decides how big of a data packet your console sends and receives at once. Larger packets might be faster, but if there is any connection issue it may cause issues, as it will need
to re-transmit the entire packet from the beginning. Depending on what you have your MTU set to, it may affect other devices on the network. This is why we generally don't recommend changing your MTU on your Xbox One.
    • Latency is the time it takes for your connection to receive a response. There is always going to be a small interval of time between your console sending and receiving data and depending on how high or low your latency is, you may see performance
issues for online games. If your latency is higher, it takes longer for your connection to receive a response which is why you'll end up seeing players jump around in online games.
    • Bandwidth is essentially how much data your home network system can send and receive at any given time,. If you have multiple devices connected to the same network you may see a decline in speed, as your network hardware may not have the
capability of transmitting full network speeds to all devices (this is also why you might have a 100Mbps connection through your ISP but only see 20Mbps on another device)

Hopefully that clears up some confusion on networking lingo! Let us know if we can help you out with anything else.

    • Packet loss – This is one of the most important things to look at as any lose means not all the information is being sent/received. So if the 4 packet test lost 2 packets it would be like sending a 4 number code 5763 but only 5 and 3 turn up rendering
    it unusable.

    • Download Speed – This is the speed at which you can download files from the internet so a 10Mbps(megabits per second) connection could download a 100meg file in 10 seconds whereas a 1meg connection would take 1minute 40 seconds. There are a lot of factors
on how fast you can download from the bandwidth limit of the server you are downloading the file from to how fast your computer is.

    • MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) – This determines the amount of data that can be sent in each packet with the higher the number the bigger the packet. You have to be careful if you alter this as to high a number could result in a bottleneck. The maximum
recommended is 1500. If you encounter a lot of packet losses you may want to set this to 576.

    • Latency - This is the amount of delay, measured in milliseconds, that occurs in a round-trip data transmission. The further away you are from a server the higher this number will be as the data has further to travel. A high number can cause lag when
    playing online.

    • Bandwidth – This is the amount of data that can be transferred from one point to another. If you have a 100Mbps connection and downloaded a file from a server with a 100Mbps bandwidth then you could get a download speed of 100Mbps but if 10 people were
accessing the same server then your download speed would be closer to 10Mbps.

This is a very simple look at it and I am sure others can give you more detail.

    Question about terms of usage.

This question need to be corrected, because we want to know about My Home Console feature in case of games sharing with friends. When one friend buy a game and second friend buy another game, after that they use this feature to share their games between
them. In my opinion, this will lead to ToS violating, because of license sharing, that not permitted between players, who not from one family.

    Question about terms of usage.

This is an extremely grey area for sharing. It is not allowed on the 360 and could result in both the gamertag and/or console being banned from Live.

On the Xbox One you can easily set any console as your Home console (only 3 times per year) but no one has confirmed whether or not it is actually allowed to share out content like this or not.

Sharing was an option at one point prior to the console being released but due to the uproar from gamers it was taken off the board and is no longer a viable feature.
