Destiny Xbox One beta won't be 1080p, Bungie aiming for it in full game

The PS4 beta of Destiny, which begins today, is expected to run in 1080p resolution - after all,

last month's alpha did. However, the Xbox One beta, which begins on July 23, will not, according to comments made during

an IGN livestream yesterday. Before anyone sounds the alarms, Bungie Community Manager David Dague maintained the developer's aiming to hit 1080p "across all platforms."

Talking to Dague on the stream, IGN's Ryan McCaffrey said, "The way game development works, correct me if I'm wrong, the beta has to be branched off well in advance, aside from the main game. So the final game will run at 1080p on both [PS4 and Xbox One], but
we won't see that on the beta of Xbox."

Companion App Now Available

Assuming you bagged your pre-order at a participating retailer, you're probably now waiting with bated breath for the Destiny beta to commence next week on Xbox, enviously eyeing the PlayStation folks who get to play it later today. While you're waiting,
you can download the Destiny companion app.

The Destiny companion app is now available to download for iOS and Android via the App Store and Google Play respectively. The free application enables you to take a closer look at your Guardian, analyse stats and compare Grimoire scores with others.

You can also use the app to message friends via the Bungie Community forums, groups or through private messaging, as well as being able to search for buddies via Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network.

Also, the Destiny beta won't be available on Xbox at 1080p, but Bungie assures that it's aiming to have the game run with full 1080p HD visuals across all platforms upon its full release in September. So there you go.

The Destiny beta will be getting underway on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 later today, before temporarily going offline on July 21st and 22nd in preparation for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One beta on July 23rd. The beta ends on July 27th.

I expected that "Destiny" would be good but I'm really impressed with the Beta weekend Bungie just ran.

Really loved the game. So much depth. So much to discover. The random events, giant enemies, everything ran as good as a full game for me.

Can't wait for September, even if it means I'm wishing my summer away.

I'm not too bothered about resolution of the beta but I hope the final game does reach 1080p.

I've been playing the beta on ps4 and graphics are stunning. Hopefully the final game on xbox one will reach the same standard.

 

Not going to change how awesome the game is to play. Resolution is overrated with the Xbox's up scaling capability.

It's been confirmed. The final game will be 1080p.

I personally would rather the game be 60 fps than 1080p.

 

That's not happening on any console.

both xbox one and ps4 are 1080p/30fps.

I've been playing on the ps4 and game looked perfectly fine to me at 30fps

 

How's the story? Does it seem like it will be on as deep as Halo's?

 

Probably not as deep as Halo but it's a different type of game.

Not even sure if the game would actually have an ending considering its a bit like a MMORPG.

It's got more story than Titanfall though
