destiny xbox 360 and xbox one servers

Hi i have a friend from usa that plays Destiny: Rise of Iron on xbox one and i got a xbox 360 and the game destiny the taken king

for somereason we cant see each other on the same server we both got gold member accounts

i dont understand why we bouth go to the same place on the server but cant see each other and my internet is setup right i cant see other players on my game but cant see my friend

do i need destiny rise of iron as well or is it because xbox 360 and xbox one has diffent servers or is it possible to play each other ??

Xbox Live between Xbox One and Xbox 360?

If you're playing one of the backwards compatible 360 games, yes. It's just like you were on a 360. If it's a game that has an Xbox 360 version and an Xbox One version (like Destiny or Call of Duty Black Ops 3, for example), then you won't be able to play
together, as the two consoles use different servers.

Destiny :k didn't know that. Does this mean that Xbox Live for the 360 will only remain with 15,000 servers or something? I thought since theres only one Xbox Live service it should be the same for both consoles.

 

They're seen as 2 separate versions and don't support cross-platform play. So you would only be able to play with each other if you were both playing 360 versions, or both playing One versions.
