Destiny Raids

Good idea 24 I'll sort that tomorrow when not on my phone. I'm pretty sure RoT works on the jack system when it comes to insurance.

Deffo need to get back on Destiny. Been popping on once a week to pick up the Stirling treasure pack or whatever it's called. Must do a raid sometime.

I'm thinking you can probably meet at least 5 people in the Tower. Add to friends list and do the Raid.

I noticed in the beta there seem like a lot of social areas in the Tower to meet new players.

@Foo umm I am not sure what you think being social is but limiting raids to friends only, and no proximity chat sure doesnt sound social to me.

We are linked already under a temp alliance called "glimmer killers" we are looking for a new name currently! We thought it best to allow people to keep their existing clan but join an umbrella group to increase your friend base, and specifically so you
could find friends more easily to raid or strike with.

The biggest thing for me that was missing from the beta was in the roster section should have clan column and at the bottom of the "who is in the tower" section, you could have "looking for raid" group

but anybody that raids knows the LfR gets re-worded.

 

Bungie even tweeted saying they have taken a "risk" with The Raids and I suspect it will change before launch, well if it doesn't it's a daft idea in my opinion.

I'm all for playing with friends rather than randoms on any game, whether it be co-op/MP, the trouble will be trying to organise 6 people to all be around at the same time.

I have one mate who I game with regularly, we are pretty flexible with times, other friends/family though game at various times due to other commitments so sometimes they get on in the mornings, afternoons or evenings so trying to organise when 6 can be
around all at the same time could be an issue for quite a few. Also bearing in mind from what I've read these Raids on average can take anywhere between 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hours to complete

 

I see what your saying but can totally understand why destiny has not done proximity chat, you would be forever blocking and muting people.

The raids are limited to people in your fire team, they don't have to be friends just no match making, in my experience even in strikes getting match made with random people = no chat and a lot more rage quitting.

 

I think this the first bad thing about the game. Getting 5 other friends together to raid won't be easy. Now if we had a chat window at the tower or something so we could form groups it wouldn't be too bad.

 

Bungie think communication and teamwork are going to be key to raids, with the numbers of people talking in games seeming to decrease, picking up randoms might be a bad move.

As long as they have ways to meet people who want to do it, I don't have a problem with it, clans are only good if the have players online at the time your online and the ppl only also want to raid.

COD extinction needs teamwork, and picking up randoms can make an easy game into an impossibility and extinction isn't anywhere near as complicated as destiny and you all have the same classes to work from.

 

I played alot of Defiance and did quite a few missions with randoms and it generally worked out well. Only issues I had with the randoms were the disconnect issues. Defiance didnt really attract the COD crowd, Destiny might be a different story.

 

It certainly looks like they need to do something, even if I think it will be OK for me, does not mean it will be for everybody, I just don't think open dialogue in the tower is the way forward.

 

@Foo Im not familiar with MMO's only know second hand info, but having a chatbox where you can make you intentions known like Defiance had would work well for Destiny. Now I know they aren't calling it an MMO but it damn near is one and they should rethink
some of the things they are doing. Even having proximity chat with an option to turn it off is better than no option at all.

 

Not going to read all the responses here but I love this idea. It's not great for anyone I suppose but I rather do my best to find 5 other friends on my list than try my luck with 5 randoms. I've added a few from the forums and sent a request for FOOxm4n's
clan so I should be set ;-)

 

I don't think it's as serious of an issue as you guys say it is - with the beta, I had no trouble getting a group of 6 friends together for the multiplayer. In fact, through the missions and exploratory mode, I easily made new friends along the way. If you
don't have any/enough friends, then you won't have any trouble finding them. This is a non-issue, IMO.
