    Destiny in the 90's

Can you imagine how you would have reacted if someone showed you this game back in the 90s?

People need to put a little perspective on their critiques of games. This isn't a good game? This isn't worth $60?

    Then what is?

    :)

<- is european, never used gamestop

We have Gamestop in Ireland, pretty much the only game retailer we have actually.

We have X-tra Vision. lol. Gamestop here in KK will only give 90 quid for and Xbox S with a 250 gb hard drive.

Pong. Oh wait you said 90's. Rock & Roll Racing on SNES. Kidding. If the technology was available back then to produce the game as it is now then undoubtedly there would've been a slew of games that are comparable or perhaps better. So the end result will
be the same as now. Some like it some don't. Also the online features would not have been possible back then. For me the true value of a game comes from how much am I going to play it not how it looks. But what do I know, I still pull out space invaders on
    my Atari 2600 once in a while.Destiny in the 90's ;)

  5. If Destiny was made in the 90s it would be rubbish because the internet structure wouldn't be there to support it.

On a side note I haven't seen any bad critiques of the game. Personally from what I've seen (I've never played it) it looks fantastic (which it should). I do know that some of my friends who have it have said they are bored with it already. Don't know how
true that is as they still play it ALL THE TIME.

Your argument doesn't make sense. Any game out now would look good if it were shown to you in the 90s. The technology wasn't around though, so it doesn't matter. The game would still be boring. Could you imagine how you would react if someone showed you
the internet in the 1700s? See how that works for anything but still doesn't mean much?

Just because you think a game is worth 60 doesn't mean everyone else does too. Myself? I say it was. Content is poor but I like playing this with my gf and friends so I say its justified.

    ^ This.

Go back 25 years and show people most anything from the future and they're going to be impressed.

  10. Can you imagine how you would have reacted if someone showed you an iphone 6 back in the 1740's?

People need to put a little perspective on their critiques of smart phones. This isn't a good phone? This isn't worth $500?

    Then what is?

The responses were pretty much what I was getting at.

People take things for granted. I can't think of many games that I have bought that were not worth $60.

If someone showed me the iPhone or the internet as it is now 20 years ago, my head would have exploded. We are blessed. Sometimes I can't understand why people are hypercritical of everything.

  12. for a game that is basically launching the AAA season and has been hyped years before it was announced by a developer known for epic stories and gameplay...people are finding destiny a little lackluster, even though we know this is only the very beginning
of a ten year life cycle. people have been hypercritical because they have *justifiably* been expecting a richer, fuller experience than what they received initially.

  14. No, I get what the OP is saying because I thought, imagine if this came out around the time of Halo 3 (2007?) when online coop and MP was a thing, people would have been crazy for it.

Now a days, just about every game has a coop mode, horde or MP, so I think people see Destiny as following the same old routine we have the past 7 years, with a few tweaks like a shared world and a huge focus on online play etc.

Personally I've played enough of Destiny to know what I wish was different, but they are so marginal that overall, I'm loving this game.

If that the case digital. OP should say in the 2000's.
