Destiny Expansion "The Taken King" Launching In September For $40?

I'm definately getting the new expansion, HOW has given my new hope for Destiny's future. If the Taken King holds up to the rumors that have been going around since the comet leak last year I'd say 40 is a fair price. Multiple strikes, more story missions
than what is in the previous expansions, a new raid and new subclasses. Seems like it'll be more than double the content of the previous expansion so I'm good with the price. Also looking forward to what other tweaks will come after HOW made it possible to
hit max level without doing an endgame actvity that doesn't have matchmaking, and an actual coherent no need to go look at stuff outside the game storyline was a big improvement HOW also brought along that got me rehooked on Destiny.

It might help to look at what Destiny is trying to do to balance out the cost instead of having a brand new $60 release like COD has every year they are doing a big update after the first year. I actually like that better than the yearly new game method,
I get to carry one with my already level character a bit longer instead of starting from scratch after a year.

I am a solo gamer, but Destiny has made me more open towards playing with others

With that being said, I will probably be picking-up this expansion if Fallout 4 doesn't come out this September

Also, just because I am now more opened to playing cooperative multiplayer, I will still say no if I am not in the mood LOL

Another thing some have to remember is that most of the complaints are "opinion". Saying the fore game isn't worth the $60 price tag is a "opinion" not a fact. For $60 I put in TONS of hours with Destiny before TDB came and enjoyed almost every minute of
it lol. Could there have been improvements? Of course but the base game kept me busy for awhile. So for me, just going off the time I put into the base game, I feel it my money's worth.

From what I have read Destiny's "The Taken King" Expansion is going to have some more story content. Which does please me. Among many other things, such as another sub class, new planet, a raid, and a few new strikes.

Just from the way that sounds, it does not sound like it is worth 40 dollars worth of content. But it can depend on how one views this.

Does just hours alone dictate price? I logged a pretty nice chunk of hours into Skyrim. And that game wasn't worth the price i payed for it. Which was free, as i received it as a birthday gift.

Does quality story content dictate a price tag? In my opinion yes. I want to know why I am doing what I am doing. Why exactly am I grinding? Diablo 3 made me understand why I was needed to be stronger, crafting better gear, and looting. It also made
me care.

Destiny was never fully transparent.. A direct quote from "The Speaker" (Bill Nighy) - "I could tell you of the great battle centuries ago, how the Traveler (which i was in awe of!) was crippled. I could tell you".... Meh, but i won't.

I never felt as though I completely understood. I shouldn't have to go to an outside source to learn more about lore.

Anyway, i believe it is a mixture of many things that justify a price tag. Destiny's The Taken King sounds pricy, but if the story content is rich... Then they can have my 40$ and i will get back to grinding.

 

I see my sentiment was kind of lost on this thread, hahaha.

 

If the DLC has new places to explore in the universe, new missions and new strikes I might consider it.

I've said it time and time again mate. I just don't get why people have the same debates about games ( same with consoles ) ... over and over again ..... "A is better than B" .... "No B is better than A" .... I got bored of Destiny along time back but totally
accept others still like it.

I bet there's a lot of games I play today that loads don't like, doesn't stop me enjoying them, nor would it.

Again and you've been around the forums to know what I mean, I just don't understand why people get so heated under the collar about it all but hey ho lol

People shouldn't care what others think about the games that they love to play because each individual is different.

I know for a fact that a lot of people think that the games that I love to play are garbage, but I don't care what they think because I am having fun with them LOL
