Destiny Expansion "The Taken King" Launching In September For $40?

2 very different models there.

"Destiny" = 2 expansions that were released months after the original release that added new areas, new weapons, new armour and nrew missions.

"Evolve" = dozens of different dlc packs that offered cosmetic changes to your hunters and monsters but had no influence on gameplay. New maps were released for free. New characters were released months later that you could pay for if you wanted them.

This is a great example of a "Destiny" critic who doesn't really know what they're talking about.

Also playing "HALO: MCC" feels like you're playing a poor man's "Destiny".

 

I have the season pass; will this be covered by it? If not, then I'm not sure if I'll get it. If so, then great!

I am looking forward to this. I am enjoying HOW alot, much more than TDB.

The removal of the need to grind is also a welcome one (what do i do with my spinmetal now?) Just realised I could swap my energy for shards, when did that happen? Would have been a higher lvl ages ago.

If the new dlc carries on in the same fashion then it will be a day one for me. Whilst destiny does lack story, i was playing Halo the other night and i had to keep asking my mate what the dtory was. Now im not saying Halo doesnt have a story but i have
played every Halo game now and i still dont realy understand what has gone on, my point is that when i am having fun shooting aliens with my mates i dont care why im doing it.

At least Halo MCC is much more fun than Destiny, even the worst FPS game I've played such as Alien Rage is more enjoyable than Destiny.

in mine, halo is rubbish but that doesn't make it a bad game...

I actually cant believe people are complaining about the DLC.. people are willing to fork out for 'map packs', which usually contain 3 maps, yet destiny gives you story missions, strikes, weapons, armour, pvp maps and pve events (either raid or prision of
elders) and people still complain lol

 

Destiny is a much more solid shooter than Halo MCC imo i would say its the most solid shooter i have played.

Ahh glad the swap of energy for shards is only a recent change, i went from lvl 30 to 32 in a day after trying to get to lvl 31 for ages lol.

 

Destiny is just Call of Duty dressed up like a crossover between Halo & Borderlands.

Borderlands = 10/10

Halo = 8.5/10

Destiny = 1/10

 

with out Halo there prpob wouldnt be destiny. halo 2 made online console fps games

 

Again I just don't get some people's way of thinking ( and I'm not bashing anyone for it ) ...

People saying things like .... "Destiny is better than Halo" .... "Forza is better than F1" ....

If I prefer A over B, someone can say all they like ... "B is better" ... but not for me it isn't. Not sure why people have to carry on and on with "debates" like this, we are all different.

 

I got 360 hours of play out of Destiny, for $70 that is cheap entertainment, IMO. I'll wait till the DLC is on sale around Christmas time, then may look at it again

I doubt I'll bother with it TBH. They're going to have to add a ton more content and actually put some thought into a few things before I commit to paying that much.

I actually enjoyed HoW (well OK, I liked some of what they did with it). The story missions were decent, but I liked the PoE concept. 4 full arena style PvEs that changed up enemies
was a welcome change.

The problem (for me) was the ridiculous RNG keys for the chests having legendary drop rates. This broke the social aspect for me. Friends that had keys were quick to band together
and friends that didn't were left (out in the cold) to farm. *y a w n*

I'll admit they were quick to fix it... but that in itself tends to prove, to me, just how big of a problem it was. Otherwise, they probably would've just let the complaining run
its course and focused on other issues.

That's the one recurring problem I have with the game. What it does right (and it does a lot right), it does brilliantly... what it does wrong, it does equally and oppositely so.
It always seems to find a way to make me think how epic it easily could have been.

I agree. I post how I feel about it and that (as always) is subject to change. There's nothing wrong with that.

Destiny could have been something that was truly amazing, but something went horribly wrong and only Bungie / Activision knows what it is

..........

The things that Destiny excelled at are

(1) Controls & Gameplay Mechanics

(2) Graphics

(3) Audio

(4) Replayability

(5) Social Experience

..........

Things that Destiny really messed up on are

(1) Not enough content. The core game doesn't warrant the $60 price tag and the season pass for TdB / HoW doesn't warrant the $40 price tag

(2) The RNG system is absolutely horrible. Before the update, a Legendary Engram will give you Rare piece of gear or even a Uncommon Weapon. After the update, a Legendary Engram will actually give you a Legendary piece of gear.

(3) The story is an absolute joke as nothing is explained and you have to go outside of the game (bungie.com) to read about it. Yes, I know that developers can't explain everything in the game; but there should be enough of it to let the player know what
is going on.
