Destiny Crucible breaks xbox ones wifi adaptor.

There is a serious bug in Destiny that can cause the wifi to disconnect and render it incapable to reconnecting to live until a clear mac address and full shutdown has happened.

When it happens it is always when playing crucible and always when waiting to respawn after dying.

Once it happens there is a weasel error and then the console will no longer be able to connect to Live through Wifi.

It says that the wifi password is incorrect.

It's as though there is a bug in Destiny that breaks the wifi adaptor.

I have to fully shut down console by clearing the alternate mac address then selecting restart.

I am using the 5Ghz wifi. and while I can't connect I don't have problems getting other devices to connect so the problem only effects xbox,.

If I try and shut the the console the normal way it will get stuck with a flashing while light while shutting down.

I realise this is a game error but if a game breaks the wifi adaptor then there is a serious problem.

Others are having this problem too in other threads but I have started this thread in the hope a mod reads this thread and informs the engineers.

xboxone does not like my wifi password - which HAS NOT changed and is working on other wifi devices!

It seems that playing destiny and dying in the Crucible will sometimes break the wireless on the xbox one.

I've already looked at that. No amount of port forwarding etc will fix the wifi adaptor on the xbox one failing due to a bug in the February system software update

The problem is the game causing the wifi adaptor to no longer be able to connect to wifi. It doesn't seem to effect wired connections. I've now wired my xbox to a wifi bridge to get round the problem but I shouldn't have to use a wifi bridge.

The problem started with the February system software update. It is not caused by NAT issues

 

Hi I have same problem like you and you are not alone, after calling Xbox support and ATT U-VERSE ISP provider and resetting my Xbox and waiting on phone and waiting for ATT U-verse technicians to check my connection and everything in my house is working
fine and good signal except Xbox one and people from service don't know what to do ,so after talking with people from Xbox one support we decide to send box for service and see what is problem, I take Xbox one to Microsoft store and manager decide to see for
himself and plug my Xbox one and she is working fine but in my house is problem, but I steel decide to send my box for repair because is under warranty steel and i'm steel waiting from service center to let me know what they find but nothing from last 7 days.

Unfortunately no.

The only workaround I have found it to use wired.

I have wired mine up via Ethernet cable to a WiFi bridge and no longer get disconnections. So even though I am still wireless my console is technically now using a wired connection because it's connecting through its Ethernet port and not the built in WiFi
adaptor.

I wouldn't recommend actually buying a bridge though because you shouldn't have to. I happen to already have one for my other consoles so now have the x1 plugged in it.

It is clearly a fault with the system software and its up to Microsoft to fix it.

 

Yep Malacath is right a wired connection is the only fix for this issue the wireless in the One seems to have a major issue that needs to be fixed

 

I am having the same issue. It seems like there is probably a bug in the driver for the WiFi adaptor or perhaps a hardware issue.

Steps to reproduce:

Play Destiny (no other games seem to experience it)

Start Crucible matchmaking (doesn't affect other game modes)

Play for about 30 minutes (sometimes it happens right away others it takes a while)

Symptoms:

Gameplay will begin to lag significantly (several seconds of latency at least). If you continue to play for another few minutes after the symptoms start eventually you get kicked from the game with an error (I haven't seen "weasel" I usually get dumped to
the start screen with an error that says I am not connected to Xbox live).

The WiFi adapter is disconnected from your network. Attempts to reconnect are prompted for the password. Entering the password results in an error saying to check your password. At this point the console is unable to connect to ANY WiFi network even unsecured
ones. Only way to reconnect is to power down (hold power for 10 seconds) or unplug the console.

My network is 802.11n with WPA2/SPK. I have tried other security types with no success. I have tried 2.4 and 5GHz frequencies on multiple channels. I have tried 3 different routers (DLink, TP-Link, and a mobile hotspot) on 3 different internet connections.
I also tried setting up a WiFi bridge on my computer in an adjacent room for better WiFi signal.

What other info can help track down the root of the problem?

What exactly did you mean by that?

I have connected a wifi bridge to my xbox so it is now effectively wired as i'm using the Ethernet adaptor instead of the built in wifi adaptor and I don't get any disconnections at all now. I can play crucible in destiny for hours now and it doesn't disconnect.

But if I go back to using the built in wifi adaptor then the problems start up again.

As you've tried 3 different routers i'm now sure the problem isn't caused by my router.

I personally put the blame on the xbox system software because a game should not be allowed to break the wifi adaptor

 

A bridge is a network device that transits data across multiple physical interfaces and by their very nature work in both directions. In my case, the computer was plugged into the router via Ethernet cable and the wireless interface was set to access point
mode. I plugged an antenna with a long cable into the WiFi adaptor and sat the antenna right next to the wall (the Xbox is on the opposite side of the same wall). Then connected the Xbox to the AP on the computer.

 

Ok. I see. So you were still connected wirelessly.

If you have any way to connect using an ethernet cable like powerline adaptors or an actual wifi bridge you might want to try that as I have my xbox wired to a linksys WUMC710 wifi bridge and I no longer get disconnections. My xbox is now technically wired
and thats what it says in the settings app.

 

It is not just the Crucible. I was just walking through the Tower and it dropped me.

 

Monkey Man I think your issue is probably different from this one. In this issue the WiFi adapter stops working entirely while playing Destiny. After I get disconnected, my console is no longer able to connect to any wireless network.

There are many (hundreds of threads) other issues reported on the destiny forums related to disconnecting from the game that don't impact the ability to connect to WiFi networks or Xbox live.

 

I'm wired and i have a similar issue where when i drop out with a weasel or anything, my party chat "Disconnects" and says the "Network settings block chat" the two could be related.
