destiny beta thoughts

There's nothing pathetic about it, Alex. IMO, both games were simply over-hyped to the point of not being as great as they led us to believe. In the end, they're both just video games and nothing more.

 

So I played more today and there were actually people in The Tower with. I searched online if anyone else had the same problem as I did last night and some did.

I will say it felt more like an MMO in the bigger areas, I ran into a random event that had 2 other players there with me and while I drove the Sparrow around I ran into more different people.

 

Loads of fun, will be buying the disc version when available.

 

I cant get past Level 3 !! The one where your not allowed to RESPAWN. Die right at the end everytime .... Got Me annoyed !!!

 

My thoughts are that it is good. Played PS4 first but now am on the One. My wife and I played together. Had a good time so far. Took her a while to get to were she could join me because she does not play much. Had a couple of issues with connecting
together and chat but those should be fixed or patched at launch. But I feel comfortable taking a chance. The gameplay works well and as long as they put in worthwhile missions with some variety of types it should be great.

 

I'm just concerned about the story. Based on the beta, it feels a bit weak. I'm perfectly fine with how the game is though, besides it being a shooter, I've never played anything like it. I kinda wish it was 60 fps though.. After playing so much Titanfall
and COD, 30 fps just feels very sluggish and not as precise.

 

I'm not worried about the story at all. I prefer games with a good plot and it would be great if it was deep and interesting. But it's a video game, that's not requirement. Especially from a co-op game where my friends will use cutscenes as the perfect opportunity
to tell me about some thick booty girl they met at the grocery store. "Go that way to kill some guy and save the world" is pretty much all I'll need to keep moving forward.

 

Yeah cut scenes are perfect to check your twitter.

 

I was happy that movement was a bit speedier and more fluid than HALO. To me, no matter how much I adjusted the settings, HALO was to slow for my twitch level. Some people like that I guess, but I like instant manuevers when I perform a controller action.
The game is good, much better than I thought. I wonder how much level expansion and story there will be. Definitely a little bit of BL feel to the graphics.

 

My one and only peeve with the game at the moment is the field of view. For some reason the FOV just seems too close. I have a 50 inch tv and I sit about 10 feet away from it while I play yet it still seems to narrow. I don't have this problem with any other
FPS; not even Crysis where the visor limits vision.

Also top tip....during most of the cut scenes you can press start and go through your inventory to sort out loot while it plays in the background.

In any case, another beta issue I seem to have encountered is that when you're in a party and a fireteam with friends, said friends in the fireteam can't hear you when you unsnap the party you're all in. Is anyone else experiencing this?

 

^its a known issue. Happened to me last night, I had to reset the One then it was fine.

 

I really like it. I cancelled My preorder a few months ago because I didn't like how it was looking(halo like), but after yesterday I replaced My preorder. If this is only a tiny sliver of game we get to try, I'm more than happy to buy this day one. Looks
beautiful and play's nice.

 

I really enjoyed it too. I've only played a little of it and I'm level 4 I believe but I really do like what I have played so far. Its definitely a day one purchase for me..

 

For me it will be a good community game for people that have a game site,clan,etc.

It's a nice mix of Halo/Borderlands and the "MMO" aspect of it is what I wish Defiance should have been.
