Destiny and Xbox Live trial cards

I recently found a 48 hour Xbox Live Gold trial in my basement and tried to use it to play with a friend on Destiny. The code worked, but I wasn't able to join a fire team or access any of the strikes which require a gold account to play. If I were to buy
a 3 month trial, would I be able to play this content?

will not let me renew my gold membership

If you mean you tried renewing using a 2week trial then that would be why

2week trials dont change your status to gold nor does it give you full access to Xbox live

Games like destiny do not operate on trial cards

It's specific to the games you got it in and likitred basic feature

Hiya!

Typically XBOX Live Trial cards dont expire because they are included with just about every system that is sold. But once a XBOX Live trial card is used and an account is set up, you wont be able to use any other trial cards.

Can you explain a little more about how they are not working?

Gold trials do not change your account status to gold so there are some things you can't do while on a trial card. Some trial cards will only work for the game they came with. If you're trying to play Destiny, that game requires a paid gold subscription.
