LOL! I do find that if you use it in a pick up truck though he tends to drive like a pensioner on a Sunday drive whos dosed himself up on valium and tamezepan. I prefer the seat of the pants approach, now if only I can master the wingsuit im sure the
trees would feel a little safer.

Personally I find the term game of the year very subjective. Over the years I've been playing games (30 years) I've disagreed with a lot of magazines "GOTY". It really is personal opinion.

As for destiny, it actually has been my highlight of 2014. I got it a while after release, not really expecting to much out of it. Truthfully at first I agreed with all the negativity about this game. But for some reason I can't seem to put it down. I'm
almost 200 hrs into destiny and I feel no signs of letting up. Much to my wifes displeasure!

Does destiny deserve GOTY? To me personally yes. Does dragon age deserve it? To me personally, no it doesn't! It simply isn't my type of game. But that doesn't mean to others it isn't.

Played destiny for about a month when it first came out. Got very bored very quickly once i got to lvl twenty something. The constant grinding and repetitiveness of it was ridiculous. And it turns out that even if i did want to go back to it i wouldnt be
able to do half the stuff i could before because it is now dlc only which is ridiculously overpriced for what your getting

@genchy. Id vote for you Destiny: 2014 Game Of The Year :D

  6. I agree with most people here, but what killed it for me is I got to level 29 and couldn't progress anymore by myself, so I stopped playing. I heard that I can now progress solo, though I don't really care anymore. I even put it back on, but it's like the
game had lost it's lustre and went off within 10 minutes.

I won't be buying the sequel.

If you or anyone else here wants to get the most out of their "Destiny" then send me a friend invite and a message.

Others have helped me in the past get the most out of my "Destiny" and I've already been able to return the favour to a few people here and happy to help more folks if they would like me to.

  8. Destiny: 2014 Game Of The Year

Destiny was a game that gave me some enjoyable co-op play with friends just long enough so I got my money out of it, but by the endgame I realized that it was little more than a fusion of Farmville and Space Invaders. I also realized that I would never
buy another Destiny game or DLC again. In fact, I pre-paid the DLC with my digital edition and have absolutely no intention of playing it. One of the most hollow, pointless games I've played a long while.

This game is such an obvious money-train. Activision is basically using DLC in place of subscriptions. Wanting to follow the MMO model, they were likely worried about how to impose subscriptions on a console base, so they decided to parcel the game into
segments and sell it piecemeal. From a narrative point of view, this is pretty obvious. The game definitely feels incomplete. Bungie is often quoted for their 10 year plan, and most of us assumed that this meant we would be watching it EVOLVE over that
time, not finish construction. I've seen the leaked documents describing content right up to House of Wolves and The Comet. With almost no new areas and a price tag of close to $100, it's safe to say that this was a grand plan. After all, they've been toying
with this concept for a while now on the CoD series, charging dumptrucks of cash for those who want to keep playing with new weapons and maps.

Destiny is also surprisingly anti-social. While people in clans or with large numbers of friends think the game is wonderful, the truth is, Destiny should have been sold with very explicit warnings: If you do not have half a dozen VERY good friends to
play this with, your experience will be severely diminished. With no in-game method of connecting strangers, many solo players have been left on the outside looking in. Matchmaking for daily, weekly, and Nightfall events should have been implemented. And
while matchmaking might not have been ideal for raids, there certainly would have been no harm in including it for those who simply had no luck finding people to play with. Those who do their own group organization simply don't have to use it. Even something
as simple as a "board" of some sort in the towers would have helped, a place where people could let others know that they were looking to play a raid. Potential partners could have looked at their gear and level, and invited them. This oversight alone is
reason enough to deny the game GOTY honors.

The argument I hear constantly in debates over the story is the one about grimoire cards. I'm sorry, but this doesn't cut it. Hints of lore may be fine in some games, like Dark Souls, but Destiny was sold with marketing language like "rich, cinematic storytelling".
Yet it contains fewer than 100 lines of dialogue and a handful of vague, poorly acted and poorly written cutscenes. The fact that Activision sold their game on the premise that it was going to an epic tale that would span ten years was borderline fraud,
    in my opinion.

Many people will probably get their money's worth from a copy. They'll play it until they realize they're stuck in a gameplay loop, then trade it. Those with friends will get more time from theirs, but the only thing that will keep them playing is OCD...that
drive to get the next big piece of loot. Loot grinding is fine, but you have to set it against more diverse environments and at least some semblance of a story. All Bungie has done is include the worst aspect of MMO and RPG games, the "chores" like grinding,
but included few of the creative elements that people enjoy.

I'd love to see Destiny redesigned to improve on these things, but Activision won't encourage Bungie to do this. They are banking on people coming back to this model because they get addicted to the reward patterns of RNG gameplay. It's no coincidence
that when you Google all the gaming and entertainment sites to see what their nominations and picks are for GOTY this year, Destiny rarely makes an appearance. People have basically figured out that the game is a flop even though it has found a dedicated
    niche audience.

Although I've put a unhealthy amount of hours(days) into Destiny GOTY? Ha! you must be kidding. I won't bother writing why as the OP is well known for believing his own words are gospel and everyone else is wrong.

And wow have these forums gone downhill.

I can respect anyone who didn't enjoy "Destiny".

If we all liked the same things the world would a pretty good place.

Dont' really understand why some people feel a "need" to try and convince the world that the game is bad though.

Like it or not It's brilliant.

Even if you hated it in the eyes of the millions of people who love it you've missed out on one of the best games of 2014.

    Sucks to be you.

What I dont get is people saying Destiny is doing the same thing over and over. Ummmmm isnt thats what most games are? Especially MP games?

Fifa is playing a match over and over, Ryse is hacking people to death over and over, shodow of mordor is sneak about kill an orc on to the next, Forza is drive around a track rto the finish line, cod is shoot someone turn around and die over and over again.
    Its what games are, repetitive.

Sure Destiny has flaws but I have got my money's worth (including dlc) and thats all i ask of a game. How some people say i spent 100 hours playing it but it has no content is a strange one to me.
