Destiny 2 forsaken

Ok, so my friend bought me destiny 2 forsaken. I get a message from xbl saying so and so has bought you forsaken. Gives me the code then says redeem now. i click it and it brings up the store, a menu comes up with the code inserted, then it fades away, leaving
me looking at the store screen with not a thing done downloaded or anything. Now i had called last weekend about it and the lady says oh you have to do it from inside the game, which still didnt work btw, but remembering this i went to try it again, and now
destiny cannot log into xbl store even. wtf microsoft. I gave you a week and still no fix? can you not just go in set that i own the whole thing so i can play with my friends who are leaving me in the dust?

Also keep in mind that you and your friend has to be from the same region in order to being able to gift each other games and DLCs.
