Destiny 2 Fireteam invites

Why can I not send fireteam invites to my son in Destiny 2? He plays on the Xbox One S and I'm on the Xbox One. It keeps saying " sending fireteam invites to this user is not allowed by your platform communication settings.' It's not cross platforms. We are both on Xbox One's

Please check your account and your son's account privacy settings. Set all the settings related to multiplayer, parties, clubs and play with people outside of Xbox Live to "Allow" or "Everyone" on the "Privacy" and "Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One & Windows 10 Online Security " tabs.

If your son is less than 18 years old, you would need to have him added to your family group as a member so you can change his privacy settings for him. For detailed information about how to do it, please refer to:

I'm having the same problem. Can't send a party invites. Can't get my fireteam together in Destiny. Please advise.

The fireteam itself will always be open on the One, so anyone on your friends list can join at any time unless you are appearing offline. If you are playing with a party, you can make the Xbox Live party invite only, but thats about it right now.

I'm not sure how you're playing Destiny as the game requires a Gold Membership.

However, when you have a Gold Membership to play multiplayer games you can press the Start button and then Left Trigger to scroll left. From there find his tag in the online list, press A then select Invite to Fireteam or Join Fireteam to join the same
game with him.

Update:

Okay for anyone trying to figure out how to invite friends to your fireteam or join a friends fireteam on the XBOX ONE, go to orbit, now follow these steps:

1. Press the "X" button.

2. Go to friends app.

3. From the home page of the friends app, go to "My Profile".

4. Tab right and (under the "JOIN IN" label) click on "Destiny".

5. If your friend is listed, skip to step 10.

6. Click on "Invite more".

7. Select your friend.

8. Click invite to game or Part & Game.

9. Refresh the friends app by pressing "B" to back out, and then go back in.

10. Find your friend and click his name.

11. Click join.

12. Click game.
