    I have been attempting to get my retail disc to work for several months. It's quite frustrating to keep getting notifications about purchasing a game that I have been playing since day one. When the disc is inserted, nothing happens. The disc works in
    other XB1s that I have tried it on....just not mine. I'm sure it has something to do with the Destiny 1 trial that was somehow downloaded to my console, and I have uninstalled/reinstalled too many times to count. Hard reset does nothing either, I even kept
    my console unplugged for over 24 hours and the disc still isn't being recognized. All other discs work in my console except for this one. And yes, the disc is perfect condition and installed without problems on another XB1 just two days ago. Even after I used
    network transfer to put the game on my regular XB1x, it still goes straight to trial mode. I have sat in chat for over 12 hours in order to speak with a representative who never appeared. Can someone please remove my license for the Destiny 1 trial so that
    i can play the full game again?

    Are you 100% sure that buying the digital wouldn’t work because I have the same issue but it seems more of an issue with the xbox not recognizing the disc is there so if you but the digital it should work right? And even if you are still stuck in trial
    mode can’t you still remove it since you have a digital copy and can just remove the licensing?

    All 360 discs work in my my 360....Destiny 1's 360 disc is not backward compatible.....All XB1 discs work in my console besides Destiny. Destiny XB1 disc works in other XB1 consoles I have tried it on, just not the one that is delegated my HOME Xbox. I hope
    this makes my (and lots of other's) issue more clear.

    EDIT: I want to put stuff in this post so that people who have this issue will have a place to get information after a mod locks it, even though it won't have the answer.

    For anyone who has this issue and reads this post, it would help if you could post your console specs.

    I will clarify the current situation and all steps I have tried, starting from what I did right before putting up my original post.

    The situation is that my XB1X will no longer load my retail Destiny disc. It is basically the only disc that goes in my console. The disc worked fine until some update installed the Destiny Trial on my console. After the trial was installed, the game has
    been "stuck" in trial mode.

    After the first attempt to uninstall Destiny Trial, my console no longer loads the Destiny retail disc automatically. It doesn't even show a tile with a "disc icon" to show it's inserted. It just looks at the disc and says "nope, this person is gonna have
    to pay us for the digital version" and then tells me thanks for using the trial. After loading, the game says "TRIAL MODE" in the top left corner. The only way I can install Destiny now is with the Microsoft Store (trial) because even using another disc still
    makes the game go to TRIAL MODE...

    My system setup is XB1X with preview dash, gamepass ultimate, and 2tb external. I mention this because the issue may be coming from one of these specs. The disc works on two other XB1 consoles, a day one (black) XB1 and another (white) XB1 that belongs to
    a friend. I have licenses for all the DLC for Destiny (the console shows "owned" for anything digital) besides Destiny itself. I have the X360 retail disc version of Destiny also since it came out before I was forced to purchase the XB1 disc in order to continue
    playing on my (at the time) new day one console. I now have a XB1X and Destiny is the only disc that is ever in it.

    Before posting, I had already tried..

    CHECKING THE DISC - .........Really? I will just say that this is probably the first step the majority of users would try anyway. It's common sense, and slightly insulting to even suggest it to someone who has been trying for close to, if not OVER a year
    to get this to work...I also tried the disc in other consoles and was able to install the game from disc using a console that didn't have my gamertag on it. I don't know the exact specs, but it was a white XB1 that looks like the original XB1, not a XB1S or
    the all digital one. When it installed from disc, I had to install around 17GB from disc and then around 30 from network. But the game wasn't in trial mode.

    UNINSTALLING THE TRIAL - Again, really? Anyway, this leads to eventually having to reinstall the trial or paying for the digital version (and according to other posts, the game will still be stuck in trial mode after purchasing the digital version) After
    installing the trial, I am no longer able to install with a disc. On my console, I am only allowed to go in TRIAL MODE or PURCHASE DIGITAL VERSION.

    GOING TO FORUMS - After reading several pages of posts regarding DESTINY STUCK IN TRIAL MODE, I came up with these things to try...

    CLEARING THE CACHE - This does nothing at all, as far as I can tell.

    HARD RESET - This does nothing at all, as far as I can tell.

    CONTACTING SUPPORT (DEVELOPER) - No luck...

    CONTACTING SUPPORT (XBOX) - When I try this, I get put on hold (sometimes for several hours) and have yet to get to talk to someone from Microsoft on the phone (I guess right NOW, COVID-19 is playing a factor). My last attempt was the day of my original
    post and I was put in contact with a representative in chat. The conversation basically went like this....

    REP: I see your issue, maybe the trial won't work because your gold expired?

    ME: ..........I am a Gamepass Ultimate subscriber. I read that it may be an issue with the license for Destiny Trial and that I should try to get someone at support to remove the license for Destiny Trial from my account.

    REP: Okay can you hold on for a second?

    ME: Sure

    REP: Did you try uninstalling the trial? How about checking the disc for scratches?

    ME: ............yes. I already stated that.

    REP: Can you hold on for a second?

    ME: ..........sure

    REP: Well, I see that issue has a hard solve. Good luck with that, I hope you get it resolved man. Peace (AGENT HAS DISCONNECTED)

    ME: Wow

    Yes, the rep addressed me as "man" several times (My apologies man, it's been a long day... Thanks man, etc) and disconnected in a "cowardly" and straight up "uncool" way to me, but anyway, I couldn't find a solution on the forums, and the latest post I
    could find was (like the others) locked without an answer.

    I saw a single post that had a reason for being locked without a solution ("this post is locked because a more recent post is up") but I haven't been able to find that post for some reason. This is when i decided to post here myself and hope someone could
    help.

    This is what I tried thanks to suggestions in this discussion.

    INSTALLING IN OFFLINE MODE - The first time I did this, I thought it would finally bring me success. But still the disc wouldn't read.

    This is when I decided to see if I could get Destiny to work on my 360, just so I could play the game. The exact same thing was happening, the disc wasn't reading. When I tried to play the game, it told me I needed to be logged in with the account that purchased
    the content (i was using a disc mind you) so I cancelled trying to play the game. After closing the game, I was informed there was an update, and after downloading it, the game loaded. When I got to the PRESS A screen, there was another update and I had to
    restart the game again..... But now, the disc was working. I also got the option to purchase all the content, including the digital version of the game for free, so i clicked install. It was around 6.75GB installed from disc... I got in the game, ran around
    for a few minutes to see if TRIAL MODE would appear and after feeling satisfied that i could play. I closed the app and powered off the 360. I got on my XB1S and still no luck. In an attempt to take the offline install a step further I decided to remove my
    gamertag and see if that would let the game load the disc.

    RESETTING THE CONSOLE (KEEP GAMES/APPS) - When I tried this, the console still had some of my profile info on it, but the main thing is i wasn't able to go offline because it wouldn't let me get to the dashboard without connecting to the internet. I then
    decided to just wipe everything off the console and hope that whatever the Destiny Trial did to the console would be removed.

    RESETTING THE CONSOLE (ERASE EVERYTHING) - I am unable to accomplish this step. I think it's because my console is in the preview program...It says I have to turn off advanced error reporting. Which will be the next step I try. When I attempted to wipe everything,
    I still have to connect to the internet before the console will load the dashboard. I created a new account (to prevent my gamertag from getting downloaded) but the disc still won't work because I have to unenroll the console from the preview program. I hope
    that after unenrolling, I will be able to install the game again. It will be a day or two before I can do this though.

    I don't know if users without preview dash are having this issue, but the game was working on my XB1S until just recently. And it works on other XB1 consoles...that don't have my gamertag associated with them.

    I have tried all those solutions (making sure the disc was good) before. Would all these things y'all recommended keep my Destiny 1 X360 disc from giving me the exact same problems? Just wondering since I figured i would see if it would work and of course,
    it didn't. I did manage to get the 360 copy to work since it gave me the option of installing everything digitally for free. It still made me download everything again even though I already had it. There is obviously something going on with a previous update
    that has added a file that breaks the retail disc and "almost seems" to attempt to FORCE us to make yet ANOTHER purchase. Thanks for giving me a solution (try to install while offline) that wasn't "do a hard reset" or "uninstall/reinstall". I believe that
    the offline install may get the game to work, but I haven't been successful as of yet. Before someone locks this discussion like all the other ones, it would be nice to get an actual solution to this problem. Just doing a search through the forums pulls up
    several gamers with the same issue but no confirmed solution.

    I would like to address ArminatorX's post with a few things... The console "recognizes" the disc because you can hear it reading it and if I put my hand on the console I can feel it accessing the disc. The problem is that it DOESN'T show up as an inserted
    disc, and since I had already uninstalled the Destiny Trial, I didn't have that option in My Games and Apps. I installed the disc with no problem on another XB1 so it seems unlikely that a scratch on the security sector would get past a day one XB1 but not
    a XB1X. Besides those things, I followed all instructions with no success. I think that my gamertag may play a role in the issue also since the XB1 that allowed the disc to work didn't have my gamertag on it.

    I just did that, and it is still saying that I have a trial. I even went out and bought a new copy, and it still says the same thing. this is one of my favorite games, and i literally played it 2 days before this. please help.

    No, I have both the X360 disc, as well as the XB1 disc. Both consoles had the issue, but now only the XB1 is tripping. I am resetting the whole console (removing all accounts and data) in the hopes that whatever file messed up my game will be removed. I
    would rather install everything again and it work than to continue uninstalling, checking the disc, etc for another several months. I clearly stated that my original issue was XB1 related.......I also clearly stated that since my XB1 disc/console wouldn't
    work (and to confirm that it was a software issue and not a disc issue) that I also tried my 360 disc/console version. The results were similar besides the 360 version eventually let me get out of trial mode, while I am still unable to play the XB1 version.
