Despite being subscribed to XBOX Gold my credit card was charged for a free game

I am xbox live gold subscriber to a few months and one of the main reasons to subscribe to this service was the free games.

Well now that went backward compatibility microsoft says any gold subscriber can download the Xbox one games and the Xbox 360 for free, but then why you ask for a credit card? Hey games are not free?

This is a tremendous *** if I knew it would not sign the live.

I want to download the Live games without the credit card crap.

Can you please do something about it.

If you do not resolve my problem I will be required to sign for this illusory service. What a disappointment.

Xbox 360 games, even those included free with Games with Gold require a valid source of payment(such as credit card) to complete the purchase, although you will not be charged for this transaction.

There are two kinds of pre-paid cards for Xbox: The first is a pre-paid Xbox Live Gold subscription card that once redeemed will subscribe you to Xbox Live Gold. The second is an Xbox Gift Card which once redeemed will add credits to your Microsoft Account
balance to spend on digital products or subscriptions from the Microsoft Store. The type of card will be labeled on the front and Xbox Gift cards will display the amount of currency you will be redeeming, while Xbox Live Gold pre-paid cards will display the
amount of time you will be subscribing to Xbox Live Gold.

If you want to use an Xbox Gift Card to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass for PC, you will need to have enough credits in your account balance to cover the initial charge plus the renewal charge, or you will need to add a backup payment option like a debit or
credit card.

I don't like having my credit card linked to my profile so I remove it everytime I use it. Xbox charge you with $1.25 or something when you add your card, I know It's not much but it if it says the game is free to download with gold membership I expect it
to be free.
