Denied access to XBox Live Gold free downloaded games after subscription expires.

Hello ppl.

I seek advise to understand if XBox Live Gold games are free or do i need a subscription to play them.

I had upgraded my 360 console to the Xbox One X Battlefield V Special Edition a couple months back and I subscribed to 3 months XBox Live Gold which allows free downloads of games. I play both consoles now.

After the first subscription (3 months) expired, I renewed Live Gold with the $1.00 / month promotion together with the $1.00 XBox Game Pass December promo. I continue to accumulate more Live Gold games on my console.

This promo subscription has just expired and I have not renew Live Gold yet. I then noticed that all the Xbox One games i've download during the Live Gold subscription previously cannot be played anymore. I'm getting an error code 0x803f900a on the One X.
Previous games downloaded to XBox 360 are still playable.

I'm not sure who best to approach for help here.

Anyone who have a next course of action for me is appreciated with thanks.

It explains to me whats going on. It is my misunderstanding that the rules are not the same for the different consoles. I had thought that the games on One are to keep too.

For Xbox One you will need a valid subscription to Xbox live. Though I believe you can still play the 360 ones you have downloaded.

The 360 games are yours to keep. The One games required a subscription in order to continue playing them for free.

What happens to my Games with Gold games if I cancel my Xbox Live Gold subscription?

On Xbox One, you’ll no longer be able to access your Games with Gold titles if you cancel your subscription. However, if you decide to renew your subscription at any time, you’ll be able to
access and play your previously redeemed Games with Gold titles again.

On Xbox 360, any Games with Gold titles that you redeem as an Xbox Live Gold member are yours to keep, regardless of whether you continue your subscription.
