Demote Adult account to Child

When we set up my sons account it was done as an adult as so many people did.

I have already added it to my family but can’t make any changes to it. I want to turn it into a child account.

Is this possible? If not, is there a good work around?

There is no way to demote an adult account to a child account.

As Parity stated you cannot demote an adult account to a child. Your only option would be to create a new child account.

Hi Nicole,

The only way is to create a new account as a child account. The birthday on Xbox.com is the one that cant be changed once it is set. So the adult account will stay an adult account. If you make a child account and the games are on his adult account. Set
the adult account as home, put a passkey on it so he cant log on it. Then the child account can use the gold and the games.

You can't demote an account as mentioned. You can however change the email associated with the account if that's something you're interested in.

I am having the same issue. I need to switch my account that my son has been using to a child account to limit his time. Either that or find a way to switch his game progress & money to his child account.

There is no way to demote an adult account to a child account and there is no way to transfer progress and currency to another account.
