Hello Stevej,

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. I would not give out your information to anyone requesting it. If Microsoft needs you to verify yourself, they will send you a message to your email or phone number and verify you that way.

I recommend
signing into your Microsoft account to go over
your security information to make sure everything is up to date. If your account is truly being closed, then signing into your account is enough to fix that.

That definitely sounds like a scam message. I would not reply to it. In general, Xbox and Microsoft won't ask for you to reply to an email, especially not with your email and password.
